I’m freezing so bad I’m shaking and can barely move - power outage | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78985081 Germany 02/16/2021 03:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I can see my breath inside and I just stopped shaking uncontrollably in my bed. Quoting: Lord of Pain I hope they turn on the power soon. Please god help You HAVE to move. It's what is going to keep you warm. The blood circulation must be kept going. Also, put on several layers of clothing, like 2 pullovers over your shirt. And a cap on your head, the head is where most of the body heat is lost. If you don't have enough clothes are no clothes that can protect you against the cold, put a few newspaper sheets between your shirt and your pullover. This is very effective at isolating you and keeping you warm, you will be surprised. If you want to get your temperature up by moving, keep breathing in a relaxed way. You don't need to make wide movement, but see to it that you tense and relax muscles alternatively at a fast rhythm. And of course you need a lot of calories, but not just empty calories, your body needs vitamins and other micronutrients in order to keep functioning well. |

I always thought you Texans were "tough". I thought that they were "real men". I know it sounds crazy but your body temperature will stay up and keep you comfortable.. this works best with 2 people in 2 sleeping bags in the same tent... I learned this in Boot Camp we camped outside in 24 degree weather and were warm as shit. it works Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77412172 This is true. Here in Finland we have quite cold and snowy winters and I have been sleeping in wilderness in a sleeping bag countless times in freezing temperatures (even in under -30 Celsius). My experience regarding that is that it is very important to to take of the clothes - like the poster above said, to keep the body warm. One can test this by sleeping in a room or a place which is a little colder than usual; try one night with long sleeve shirt and pants, and other night naked or with boxers or something similar. The result with a normal person is always the same: with clothes it will get cold and without it will be easier to cope with the lower temperature. |

Go in the Bathroom, its the smallest room. Light all the candles, put them on relflctive side up Aluminum Foil to get more energy. Do you have any wool clothing at all? It is totally the best for warmth, next is flannel. Put on this stuff loosely so it traps the body heat. Wear a hat as 90 % of body heat escapes through the head. Get some water and drink it often to keep hydrated.Rubbing your arms and legs for circulation. Also get up and do jumping jacks or run in place till you feel warm, but NOT sweaty. Open the door every once in a while to get fresh air in. DO NOT bring in a bar-b-que or any such thing because it consumes oxygen and there's a fire danger. Let your kitchen water run a slender bit or the pipes will freeze. Dont drink or eat anything cold, you must protect the core body temp. If you feel sleepy only sleep if your candles are in a safe area and you have tons of blankets. Pray. If you can, ask on face book if someone will send an ambulance as you are in the beginning stages of hypothermia. amdg Forgiveness means giving up every hope for a better past, In exchange for a better future. (I am from NY) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79097484 Most houses do not have fire wood, unless you are up in Amarillo. Our winters are mild, not prepared for what we have here. New homes have no fireplaces mostly. So no, must don't. We do not have basements in Texas either. Because of our type of soil. |
