Wood Fired Masonry heaters have safely warmed homes in Austria, Germany, Russia, Scandinavia, etc., for hundreds of years. Masonry heaters are clean burning, with minimal particulate emissions. We use moisture meters, to ensure dry wood. These units only burn a few cords of wood per season. Those of us building them will continue to fight the EPA to the death, to keep them legal, especially in arctic climates. A few years ago we had an ice storm, and electricity was out for weeks in some areas. People with masonry heaters, with attached bake ovens and domestic hot water coils, remained inconvenienced and SOVEREIGN.
