I Have a "fixed co-pay" With Medicare due to President Trumps Executive Order. PRIOR to this I had to purchase Novolin (Walmarts brand) because it was all I could afford at $25 per vial or around $125 per month.

The point is, Biden has done NOTHING to change that. What Trump put in place is still in place.

She is talking about the novolog flex pens. Fast acting insulin. Produced by novo nordisk. All she has to do is call them and they will put her on one of her free or discount programs. I pay $99 for two boxes - 5 pens per box. I can use it for novolog or treshiba - the slow acting version.

Novo nordisk is more than willing to let her pay full price and so is her pharmacy. Too many people in this country are just too ignorant to know how to play the game.

Nobody uses several vials a month people.. Most use ONE.. a few who are every active and totally type 1 might need 2. That lady was an actor. and most do not even need to use the more expensive pens.. its a fashion statement.

Pens are more expensive and I don't use them for that and other reasons. I use 10 cc vials. And if refrigerated... insulin does not have to be tossed each month... One vial lasts me 6 weeks at least... maybe a bit more and I use it to the last drop.

I know for a fact, as a Medicare Insurance specialist, that a bunch of people use more than one vial a month. I'm not condoning it because most of them are fat slobs that eat sugar by the boat load, but the fact remains, they use more than one vial in a month.

You won't notice a difference because of Medicaid. That's the truth. Count your blessings that you're poor enough to get shit handed to you. A lot of people aren't in that boat because they make just over the threshold to receive help. Those are the people who will be impacted if the price does go up.

However, I do believe, that the 35 dollar cap for most insulins on most Medicare drug plans is still in place. I haven't heard otherwise. At least yet.

Thank god for my insurance because without it id be fucked.. My one box of insulin cost $600.00 bucks a month my other cost $400.00 a month. With my insuranc I pay about 160.00 a month

I’m not totally sure as to cost as I have not seen the bills yet. But I spoke to the pharmacist regarding insulin for a patient. He wanted a billable Dx for the insulin and apparently DM2 was not it.

I will ask a pharmacist later in person. Have not had good results phoning.

I think this would largely depend on the person's insurance. I recently was prescibed Doxycycline and saw that without insurance it would have cost me $500 for 10 days! I got it at no charge because I have a form of Medicaid.

ok.. there are 1000 units of novolog in a 10 cc vial of 100 units per cc.

now I rarely take 30 units a day.. only if pigging out and lying on the couch.

that's 900 units.. a little left over in a vial.

rarely actually do I take more than 25. That is 750 in 30 days. which is why a vial lasts me more than a month. and perhaps 6 weeks.

My doctor told me an adult average for those of type 1 of my size would need about 48 units a day.. this of course varies on weight.. exercise etc. 2 units per hour.

48 times 30 days... is 1440 which would be close to 1 1/2 vials a month.

and I don't throw mine which I keep in the fridge away until its EMPTY.. I do not pay any attention to the 28 day bullshit ok.



I do not use long lasting types .. the one I tried was not right for me at all because what I need varies a lot over the day depending on what I stuff in my face and my exercise. I am very BRITTLE...and long acting forced me to eat before it wore off. I prefer the meal time and novolog lasts me longer than the other meal time insulin.

of course everyone is different. and I am a small person .... weighing about 120 pounds...

My 3 vials last well more than 3 months. I will renew that often though NOW because we are going to have shortages and I am stocking a bit. I will not be doing without.

and I save on syringes because since only me is using a vial I and I keep it in the fridge unless I am out for a long period and need to take it with me... I reuse mine.. the new ones which are shorter that I got at walgreens.. house bring.. last me several days at least.. and I take insulin usually at least 5 times a day. I just don't run up excess costs.

I have no idea what the cost of the test strips is.. once when my insurance company maybe 3 years ago was giving my CRAP on those... I ran out and ordered a walmart meter and strips ... 100 and I don't remember that cost except the house brand was so much cheaper.. I bought the meter of course.

at one time no one regulated the test strips and then suddenly they did.. In previous times I just had a standing order to get what I needed for a full year.

I am brittle and my control is better some days when I test more during the odd brittle times . I have been on insulin for about 20 years now.
