If it could have been done, it would have. The one women said it took firefighters 45 minutes to stop the water from coming into her apartment. It might have been more complicated in an apartment building/complex than turning the water off in one's house.

All my clients were always thankful that I ran the water lines just like the sewer lines with some grade to them.
It makes it simple to winterize a house.

I think there is going to be a lot of Fraud claims with this Texas water pipe crap. That last video looks sus.

I would think the apartment OWNER would or at least should care enough to protect his own property and shut it off no? No water sucks but not as bad as being flooded.

First thing you check for when moving into a house for an emergency event.

I was thinking the same thing.

If any Texans are reading here, you need to drip your faucets when the temperatures are very low to prevent pipes bursting.

I am not sure if Texans know this (since their winters are always so mild) so I just wanted to say it in case they arent aware of this tip.

in regards to the first video, actually, any pipe will freeze if it gets cold enough, it's just that Texas' energy companies failed to properly deliver energy to keep them warm

It should be mandatory for apartment complexes and hotels to have their own emergency backup generation systems...

I would not live in one that didnt...

I cant believe how poorly prepared everybody really is in this situation...

Texas is woefully ill-prepared for ANY issue that goes slightly abnormal. I just dont know why this is, but it is.

A. I’ve worked on many apartments in many different apartment type units.

Many complexes are built with only a single water cutoff for the entire apartment building. There is one shutoff in a common mechanical room somewhere for all apartments in that building unit.

I’ve run into a few where you have to shut off the water at the street, where the meter is.
