Owner Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will phase out building cars with internal combustion engines over the next four years and focus on the electric vehicle market. This will involve consolidating its production facilities that are spread across the Midlands and will see car production move from JLR’s Castle Bromwich factory east of Birmingham to Solihull. Chief executive Thierry Bollore, who took over the role last year, said the firm is “exploring opportunities to repurpose” the Castle Bromwich plant, leading to speculation it could be used for battery production. JAGUAR WILL BE OUT OF BUSINESS WITHIN A FEW YEARS AFTER THAT DATE. Hymie Barkowitz |
