Alright guys, I'm looking at taking the plunge into bitcoin or some other coin.
I have a few questions,
1. What are some of the coin purchasing platforms you would recommend
2. What does the short term future for bitcoin look like (should I jump in now or wait a sec for a dip to occur)?
3.What other coins should I be considering? LTC,ETH,XRP,ect...
Is it still viable to mine for some type of coin? Back in the early days of coin I'd mine bitcoin with an old I7 and make a decent profit but I doubt it's the same anymore.

But over time the trend is up, so you will gradually accumulate. BTC, LTC, ETH, DASH are 4 solid long term coins. Mining is generally not worth the time and effort unless you are dedicated and can afford the up front investment. Trading is a lot easier. Study trading and how to read charts and do some theoretical trades to practice a lot before trying to day trade or swing trade. Watch this guy on YT. He does live chart analysis every day and is very good at it and teaches you a lot over time for free. Subscribe to alerts to keep up with the latest.
