Can someone explain why this bitcoin has any value? I'm not trying to be an ass, but I just don't get it? It's based on what?

The Mayan's valued and traded with sea shells.
 Quoting: 2012Portal

yep and those sea shells were physical and probably still are there. Again, bitcoin has NO PHYSICAL EQUIVALENT AT ALL.

Bitcoin is like you going back to the sea shells barter time and telling the seashell seller that you take 5 seashells for NOTHING. If the seashell seller might have a strange kind of humor, he'd probably give you those 5 seashells cause he recognizes that you've used a lot of thinking-energy to come up with that scam.

Do you have a $1 in your pocket? That bill is actually worth less than the value of the paper it is printed on. Let that, like the ink on it, sink in.

Monetary value is velocity.
 Quoting: 2012Portal

No, monetary value is not velocity. Monetary value is a fraud, so is everything attached to it.

Re: Bitcoin Keeps Hitting New Highs as Crypto Mania Accelerates
Alright guys, I'm looking at taking the plunge into bitcoin or some other coin.

I have a few questions,

1. What are some of the coin purchasing platforms you would recommend

2. What does the short term future for bitcoin look like (should I jump in now or wait a sec for a dip to occur)?

3.What other coins should I be considering? LTC,ETH,XRP,ect...

Is it still viable to mine for some type of coin? Back in the early days of coin I'd mine bitcoin with an old I7 and make a decent profit but I doubt it's the same anymore.

Thanks

spoofy

If it seems too good to be true...
 Quoting: Judethz

Its not. I made several thousand in past few months.

Real money, and some of it already spent. Physical items sitting right next to me that were purchased.

You post spoofy as your reponse every time because you can't be bothered to have an original though or do any research. Nope.. just post a conspiracy theory meme and call it a day.

So brave.

Let me guess, you went all in at the top of last bull market and sold the bottom then gave up?

LOL

I lost plenty before I learned wtf I was doing.

Time and effort to LEARN HOW to trade while using STOP LOSS to protect capital.

Now I have made back all losses and substantial profit.

Such a shocker - it takes work to earn a reward.
If you think it is "free money" or "sitting on your ass and stealing other people's money" you are just salty and jealous.

Bet you don't have a problem with your 401K investments making money.

psst (what will you do if your fund invests in BTC? THe HORROR!!!!!)

smh at the haters
smile at my profits

Dollar cost averaging is the simplest strategy.

Just buy a little bit every weekend. Sometimes its up, sometimes its down. But over time the trend is up, so you will gradually accumulate.

BTC, LTC, ETH, DASH are 4 solid long term coins.

Mining is generally not worth the time and effort unless you are dedicated and can afford the up front investment. Trading is a lot easier.

Study trading and how to read charts and do some theoretical trades to practice a lot before trying to day trade or swing trade.

Watch this guy on YT. He does live chart analysis every day and is very good at it and teaches you a lot over time for free. Subscribe to alerts to keep up with the latest.

Yes and no. If I dig a ditch for you, in return for a barrel of oranges, what happens when you have no more oranges? You give me a promissory note. Those have their own issues, which is how "money" and advanced trade started.

Central banks have further corrupted the banking system. It's largely legal corruption, mind you. They call that monetary policy.

Which leads to true velocity of money. Let's call it value. True velocity of value. That is what BitCoin, or generically said, a de-centralised crypto currency on a blockchain offers.

Velocity of value.

Now I can dig that ditch and get paid via a smart contract crypto currency escrow. Meaning I know you have the money and you know you'll get the work completed. We're both happy, it's honest, fast and secure.

isn't this a bad idea? imagine what will happen one day when COINBASE is merged in the STOCK MARKET and the same goes bust, crashes, their shares, stocks fall and maybe evaporate, people will lose all their money that are operating on that platform

Kraken is better, fees are half of coinbase. But it's hard as hell to fund an account from fiat.

So I fund a coinbase account. Buy xbt, then move it to kraken. Cheapest and easiest thing to do.

But I do high frequency trading with xbt, so the difference between .5% and .26% matters when your trading on the 1% swings.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79281006

What are the problems you have experienced with Kraken when funding with fiat?
I have wired Euros from my German bank a couple of times to Kraken and within 2 days the funds were showing in Euros at Kraken.

They manipulate and suppress the price of silver and gold to fool people into thinking fiat is holding its value. Gold and silver are the canaries in the coalmine, but they have been captured and hidden and their warnings cannot be seen.

Bitcoin is not under their control. So as more wealth flees the dollar and into Bitcoin, it becomes the new canary to warn about the dollar.

Gold and silver should be taking off. They are, but it's hidden. Have you seen premiums? It's $13 premium on top of spot for silver eagles. Physical price is decoupling from the paper market.

But the biggest warning is coming from Bitcoin. Actual companies are now taking dollars and buying Bitcoin. Tesla just made more money on Bitcoin that it did selling cars all last year.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2492899

you're funny. Bitcoin's worth is measured in FIAT.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79220975

So is gold. That's just how they choose to price things in this fiat world. Measure BTC in gold ounces if you wish or squirrel farts for all I care. What you said is not at all a coherent thought.

Most smart people have their bags packed sub $10,000 but with that being said, Bitcoin will easily be 6 figures in the coming year. When it crashes, it'll be another 50-70% pull back, but it's not going anywhere long term.

Digital dollar is coming sooner than you think. Imagine the government putting a time limit on your dollars to spend or else they are taken from your wallet/account... How's that for forced stimulus? It's coming folks.

Re: Bitcoin Keeps Hitting New Highs as Crypto Mania Accelerates
Bitcoin is the major step into the total "command and control" digital economy.

When Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan (who literally ARE the Federal Reserve) is getting involved, you know a major paradigm shift is about to happen.

My guess is bitcoin is an intermediary step between cash and the total digital economy. There will be a new crypto, created and managed by the Fed Res/World Bank/IMF etc, that all the big players will jump ship to and bitcoin will crash, leaving those out of the loop of the "when" this transition comes penniless.

This is a good chance to make a quick buck while protecting your purchasing power if you stay on the ball and see where the wind is blowing. Because any way you cut it, the US dollar is done. Unsustainable. Inflation is already through the roof and only going to get worse. Money in a savings account is pointless.

Fact is, all the precious metals are gone. There will never be a "gold backed dollar" as it would inhibit the big players from continuing their scam. Gold and silver will rise in relation to the dollars drop, but there just isn't enough out there to cover the sheer amount of fiat dollars in circulation.

If you want to take the chance, this is the last opportunity to get into the crypto game before the prices become prohibitive. But be on the ball and know that a time will come where the transfer of wealth from bitcoin into "X digital currency" is coming. Knowing when to jump ship with the big players is key.

Ill say it again. If crypto currency is to replace our worthless dollar, a question. If the bitcoin is worth $52,000 worthless dollars, isn't is value worthless? So if you think it will replace the dollar, how will you spend it? My guess, the bitcoin will not actually be used in transactions. Rather, A paper currency with bitcoin as its base will be used. Like silver and gold certificates at one time for the dollar. It was ill be odd as its value fluctuates wildly. So your $100 bitcoin certificate may drop or shoot up while standing in line to buy your groceries. It maybe a CC bitcoin account. Oh and BTW, how is its value determined? I realize the dollars value changes with economic cycles, inflation etc. However, you don't see 20-50% alterations over days. I smell a pyramid scam. Dip your bread in the gravy while its warm and bail. Or not. It just smells.

Re: Bitcoin Keeps Hitting New Highs as Crypto Mania Accelerates

(Bloomberg) -- Bitcoin’s incredible rally shows little sign of abating yet after the token jumped past $52,000 for the first time.

The largest cryptocurrency was little changed in Asian trading Thursday at about $52,100 after a fivefold surge in the past year

Bitcoin’s rally for some is emblematic of speculative froth in financial markets awash with stimulus. The crypto faithful counter that the digital asset is grabbing more mainstream attention, especially after Tesla Inc.’s recent $1.5 billion purchase. MicroStrategy Inc. boosted its convertible debt sale to buy Bitcoin by nearly half to $900 million and cut the coupon to 0%, making it virtually a straight bet on the price of the cryptocurrency.

MicroStrategy’s step is “a warning sign if there ever was one that things are getting out of hand in the crypto world,” Jeffrey Halley, a senior market analyst at Oanda Asia Pacific Pte, wrote in emailed comments.

Others take a different view, contending that demand from institutional investors and companies is set to expand, driving further gains.

“There are a number of reasons why Bitcoin is soaring, but what stands out most is the trend that MicroStrategy started and Tesla popularized: moving institutional balance sheets into Bitcoin to hedge against inflation,” said Nicholas Pelecanos, head of trading at NEM.

Activity in Bitcoin futures suggests traders don’t see a sudden end to the crypto rally, with spreads continuing to widen between the active contract and March futures, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Shares of Asian crypto-linked companies have advanced, too. Japan’s Monex Group Inc. jumped 11% to hit a 13-year high on Wednesday, while BC Technology Group Ltd. in Hong Kong closed at a record. Both stocks were down Thursday in Asia, though.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. strategists said Bitcoin’s volatility needs to ease to prevent its rally from fizzling. Other commentators see a mania likely to end in a bust akin to the implosion in 2017.

The digital coin’s 60-day realized volatility is around the highest since May last year, though still below the levels seen around the peak of its last boom some three years ago.

Just because You dont understand bitcoin or any other Crypto doesn't invalidate it. Its backed by processing power of miners,..a newwork of millions of computers connected to each other that process payments. So its essentianlly worth more than a USD which is backed by nothing

And you cannot 'print' crypto. THe supply is always deflationary and worth more and more.

Another casino for y'all. Have fun.
