They offer up to a year free for students, then when renew you have to show proof of still being a student.

They will charge fees if that is not shown as still enrolled student and charge fees on credit card provided by your son.

You can dispute charges and they will take it off.

Just call Amazon. They will probably just give the money back - they're easy to deal with.

It's just that Amazon should not be supported now after they tried to censor conservative political speech.

Re: amazon prime charges?
They have been doing this for about 7 years now, maybe 5, I caught them signing me up to Prime when I had specificly set my profile to not be signed up.

At one pont they reset the shopping buttons. You would try to check out, and it would keep taking you back to the "choose prime at checkout" option. Then they moved the button. You would click and you were signed up to Prime. It was pure deciet.

It took me and entire day to be taken off. It involved multiple email and phone calls back and forth. I was so infuriated.

You should sue them as a class action, someone needs to. Bezos the clown needs to go down.

The worst thing about getting older are the feelings of pure hate and rage, because you can't stay alseep anymore. Amazon needs to be broken up, and it's ill gotten gains placed in some sort of public trust.

Yea, they did this to me last year. You have to make sure that whenever you order anything on Amazon, you uncheck the box the indicates you want to become a "prime" member, otherwise you will automatically be enrolled in it and be charged.

Re: amazon prime charges?
Amazon is really using manipulation and deceit to have people sign up for their Prime. I hate it!

I always am extra careful not to press by mistake that Prime button. My friend got cheated this way and saw the charge very late and couldn't do a thing about that because it was over a month. Amazon really needs to have a class action lawsuit against them for cheating their customers.

Someone may have stole his credit card number and used it. Talk to the bank too.

Any other charges? Call their customer service, if it's fraud, hacked or stolen card info, they'd want to know about it too. Their customer service people are generally really good about clearing up stuff like this.

Do not leave any payment information.
I always delete mine after making a purchase.
If there is no card information, you will get an email saying they can't process the payment.

Re: amazon prime charges?
It is in line with current unspoken big business policies to pretend a mistake happened and then profit from those who don't catch it. They're doing all kinds of crap like this it's why they had the congressional anti-trust hearings months back.

I did an order last summer for maybe 10 items, and they billed everything out either separately or in groups of 2-3 items and then they'd issue some refunds and then bill some more out. At the end of it there was like ~$40 too many charges. I then went through the chat customer service loop (after looking for chat customer service for a half hour).

The first two guys disconnected the chat on me even though I wasn't rude to them (I believe I called Amazon a criminal organization, which it now is, but that was only one guy). The third guy said he was going to email me one solution and then emailed me the different solution of calling my bank and getting them to dispute it.

At the end of it I now have a spreadsheet tab just for reconciling Amazon charges, I had to get a new card, and I now only pay with PayPal.

I recently had to have $300 worth of amazon prime video charges removed from my account....it was also on a citibank card. Thankfully, they had no problems removing the charges and sent a new CC to replace the one that was compromised.

Had citi not been so pushy to get me to paperless billing, I would've noticed the fraudulent charges MUCH sooner.

Re: amazon prime charges?
One of my recent Walmart grocery orders they double billed me. Not a small amount either. They double billed and didn't correct it until one or two days later. This is unadulterated oppression of the poor. If you don't have money in the bank for two charges you get NSF'd. Also, if you were relying on a delivery service to pick up your food, you now can't pay the delivery service because they double charged you.

Not stressful or nothing. A months worth of food rotting at the pick up station and you can't do anything because the biggest company on the planet is so competent that those are the situations they're creating, over and over again.

Re: amazon prime charges?
I haven’t had this exact thing happen, but it’s not much of a surprise. I appreciate knowing to watch out for it.

Recently, I was ordering a custom item for a friend from Amazon and had to customize it to put it in the cart. I wasn’t ready to order it yet and when I went back in later, I couldn’t see the customization, so I had to enter all that again.

If a person wasn’t paying attention, it’d be easy to order multiples by mistake when checking out. And since they were customized, they would not be returnable. The item was around $50, so not a cheap error.

Another site I order from periodically offered free standard shipping recently, and I entered and applied the coupon code when I was checking out. I noticed in an e-mail the next morning that my total was too high and discovered they had added expedited shipping!

In calling them, they said I needed to “select” the free standard shipping after applying the promo. ??? They did credit it back, but I think these retailers are getting sneakier!

He prob was not paying attention when making a purchase as every purchase asks you to get free shipping with prime

it automatically signs you up with a single click

Would it surprise you to hear that they profile customers based on their ability to understand certain situations as laid out on websites and are deliberately serving up custom-made confusing situations? They're tracking all the ways you interact with the page elements, all the ways you click, all the ways you scroll, what happened before you misclicked, and then they're developing strategies to trick you into making misclicking mistakes and then hoping you don't notice it.

Twice in a row they served me up a situation where I pressed the "next" or "proceed" button after finalizing my order and selecting the shipping options.

After I pressed the button I did not move to the next page but a dialogue came up saying that "changes had been made to my selections" or something like that. They switched me from a free delivery option to a paid delivery option that was so expensive it was almost as much as a years worth of prime.

They did not explain why the "next" button actually "changed my shipping option," but it did.

These are criminal organizations.

Let's be real here and state the obvious.

Anyone that used the services of that openly corrupt Communist supporting company shouldn't be surprised they are getting scammed or stolen from.

If you have any business dealings with such an openly corrupt company, don't complain when they scam you out of money or steal from you. You deserve it, because you should have seen it coming.

We deserve it because our governments are actively destroying/restricting/limiting our ability to shop at anything other than big box retailers? We deserve it because the biggest businesses on the planet have engineered a passive collusion strategy that makes it impossible for new players to enter the market without even the need to send in physical intimidation like they used to?

Oh no wait, we deserve it because we should have seen it coming. Sorry. We deserve being pigeonholed into supporting criminal organizations because we couldn't see it coming even though like at least 50% of GLP has seen this coming for a decade or more.

Got it.
