Less than 50%

The county health department held a clinic and vaccinated about 700 people on Saturday.

Officials said about 10% are failing to get second doses, and if that pattern holds, about 70 people from the clinic either won’t come back for that second shot or will show up days or weeks later.

Hi, all

Thanks for the shaving cream tip regarding fogging -- I will try that.

The sugar issues are interesting. It could be directly COVID related (undiagnosed infections, maybe?) or it could be due to stress. I teach a class on stress .... and when the HPA axis (cotrols our stress reactions) is dysregulated, and high cortisol becomes a constant in the body, it can cause issues with insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome, as well as chronic inflammation.

I am wondering, though, if there isn't another variant (or several) of Sars-Cov-2 that the tests aren't picking up. A lot of peoople on the longhauler groups got sick very early and never had a positive test. Some test negative for antibodies, too.

Lyme is like that --- it's difficult to detect, the tests are skewed badly, and most tests only pick up the original strain of borrelia. To detect other, more newly identified strains of borrelia, one needs an entirely different test. Antibodies for active infection are only detectable during a certain window, too ... if you test too early, or too late, you may show a false negative. I'm thinking the same thing may be happening with COVID.

Also, I wanted to mention that there was an interesting discussion on a Lyme group to which I belong, regarding the vaccine. Some Lyme docs are saying it's ok to get it (they think the benefit outweighs the risk), but many are recommending waiting, or saying don't get it at all.

People with Lyme often do badly with vaccines, due to our immune systems being dysregulated.

Several people on the thread had the vaccine, and were doing ok with it so far.

What struck me, though, was how many people on the thread had already had COVID, or were currently sick with it ... as well as having lost, or nearly lost, family members. It was a much higher number of people than I would have expected, given that it isn't a COVID group. Not surprisingly, those folks had been/were extremely ill, and not faring well with COVID at all.

Thanks for that Rasen, and good to see you.

I was thinking today that I sometimes get lax about eye protection, mainly due to the fogging up issue that happens with glasses or goggles. A face shield is better, to a degree, though I get fogging on those, too.

I do wear eye protection when I go indoors in a public place, which is literally only when I go to the doctor or the pharmacy. Outdoors, I just avoid proximity to others.

CC -- thanks for the article on long-term sequelae. That really is my biggest fear with this. The fatalities are awful, of course - but I really see this leaving behind a huge amount of chronically ill people, which will cause all kinds of problems in terms of the workforce, burden on the healthcare system, etc. Not to mention, living with a chronic illness is no walk in th park, to which several of us can personally attest.

There's also the economic impact. I can't imagine how businesses (except essential services) are managing to survive at all. If work can be done remotely, business can continue.. but what about all the business that needs to be done in person?
 Quoting: Doommonkey

the fogging is a huge issue. here it is not so bad in winter luckily.see no way u can work a shift with these goggles.hence my idea to a helmet mask that propels the exhaust.

for now-try some shampoo. rub it on the lense both in and outside surfaces. this doesn't stop it but does help delay the fogging. the better the masks seals the less fogging as well. we have had less issues with it since going to half face masks.

So yesterday's Kevin McCairn's video (2/27) presenting that the mRNA vaccines are really gene therapy. Most informative. I am so grateful to sos for putting Dr. McCairn's info on the other thread.

Addressing Dr. David Gorski's Calumny About SARS-CoV-2 Prions And Gene Therapy Vaccines
[link to www.mccairndojo.com (secure)]

The whole video is on his website since the entire video wouldn't fly on YT. Overall prions take time to present in a subject, so it seems for many who take the shot, it may be awhile before (if any) problems present and by then it will be blamed on something other than whichever pharma shot one received. I do remember Uncle Doom did talk of prions way back. I know he was wrong a lot, but he was right a lot too. McCairn also mentioned that since people are not being told the entire truth, they are not actually giving informed consent when they voluntarily received their COVID shot...interesting thought.

Anyway reading next door, seems a lot of peeps around this neck of the woods have gladly received their shots and are happy to be able to get back to life the way it was. Guess time will tell if this is a myth or reality. Thought I'd share some of the comments that show me the difference between the folks here at GLP and the world at large.

I must add, I am NOT anti vaccine, and for those who want and receive the COVID shot(s) that cool, we all are responsible for our individual decisions. This is just my frame of opinion at this time that the shots are rushed medicine and many don't know what the heck is going on or what will be the outcome.

My wife and I both got the 2nd shot of Moderna and had a day full of headache & chills. I will definitely recommend taking the day off work to anyone else getting the second dose. Still glad that we are vaccinated.

I am really sorry for the folks that had an uncomfortable time after the second Moderna. My husband had very light reaction after his second. The second thing I am happy for is that every one is acknowledging it’s worth getting vaccinated. We all want our regular lives back!

My first shot of the Pfizer vaccine gave me point of injection soreness for a day, and about 12 hours after the injection, I had about 20 hours of feeling exhausted and as if I was coming down with a virus, I have never been so happy to feel run down! About 44 hours after the injection, everything felt perfect again, nice to know that the body had started producing antibodies and T-Cells!

Its been almost 48 hours and I'm back to normal. My arms is still a little sore. If the Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson vaccine can get us back to normal, then the few days it affects us is a small price to pay.

I'll stop. But as has been discussed here, there are people who have been out and about and not impacted, traveling and vactioning and no negative impacts. I will keep reading GLP, reading studies, educating myself and go from there. I don't trust CDC, Fauci, government explanations, so it's up to me to prove what I can and I appreciate CC for creating this new thread without the dogma of trolls and being able to look at other's views on this.

{Have proofed this a few times, hopefully I didn't miss anything. Right now I only have one eye that I can see out of, hopefully not permanent, but it's real different trip.}

Re: Sars Cov 2 … the grinder continues to eat away at resources and humanity.
Back from drain declogging ... was successful (on my second attempt -- I tried a few days ago, too) with a handheld drain snake down the grate, a long hook up the pipe, a longhandled grabber, and a fair amount of elbow grease. Came home smelling like Wordsworth! (In fact, I thought of him as I was mucking around in the nasty water with poop and rotting seeds.... yuck.)

I think CDC-ATL brings up an interesting question, put side by side with the many longterm sequelae we know exist for some patients (and the many articles CC and others have posted on this).... of course science doesn't yet have the answers to this question, but it is interesting to ponder why some areas seem to have a lot of people who fail to recover, whereas others don't.

In my personal circle, I now know a lot of people who have lost friends and relatives to this, and I personally know two longhaulers, and a few others who may turn out to be longhaulers. I'm thinking maybe certain variants are more likely to have longterm consequences. The CA variant seems to be pretty nasty -- though the science is so contradictory it's a bit hard to make much sense of it.

Let me throw this out there, just as a point of comparison. Many people who get Lyme recover just fine, especially with early antibiotics. Some seem to recover, but then relapse. Some people don't recover fully even with early antibiotics, and for some of us it becomes a lifelong disease. The science has been really skewed regarding Lyme (don't get me started on that) so it is hard to know the real percentages of people who become Lyme lifers, but it's added up to millions of us over the years.

At least with COVID, there's already a fair amount of attention being put towards the longhaulers, unlike with CFIDS, chronic Lyme, Fibromyalgia, and so forth (all of which are likely post-infectious or long-term infection syndromes). This is happening because an estimated 10 to 20% of infected people go on to develop long-haul COVID... and the numbers of chronically ill people will be staggering.

Nice response ty.
This is my issue that's the reason I posted. Wife is kinda running out faith on this thing, I myself have fair more questions than awnser. We do have friends in the medical field, their kids all in school and they go on vacations.
I see the studies and no I dont read them all. But I kinda feel like I dont have any legs to stand on when I say no we shouldn't go here or there not yet.

I think I have some fair questions that we should have some answers, or some hypotheses to why is been such a slow go on a virus that shut the world. I'm not a doctor nor scientifically minded. (Joe the lab assistant) I've told cc for our family this virus has been a plus, we focus more on family, knew ideas to have a family outing, I stopped chasing money and started realizing what matters.

Anyways hope you all are well! We did a 7 hour hike with a couple yesterday and the distance and being outside made me feel comfortable

I’m with you, we have been locked down pretty much since February. I have many friends that have gone on vacations, go to parties, go to bars, out to dinner etc and none of them have gotten freaking sick! My 17 year old was getting so depressed I told her she should go to her boyfriends sisters birthday party and guess freaking what, we all got covid from that crap! I have been so safe it’s not even funny! Do a once a month shopping trips order meal delivery we cook at home, no restaurants, nothing! So she and her boyfriend lost their smell and he lost taste, they both felt kind of crummy for a day or two and that’s it. I never had a fever, lost my taste and smell and I’m on two weeks now of feeling pretty crappy. Hubby is now sick too. No taste or smell. The taste thing is weird, you can taste sweet, salty, sour but no flavors. My smell is kind of coming back but I still have it where my lungs feel like I just went on a hard hike. I haven’t had a lot of congestion in them but we’ve been tired, worn out easily, just a weird deal. I have been loaded up on everything! I took ivermectin, chaga, elderberry, wormwood, quercetine, vitamin d, vitamin c, etc. maybe that helped it not get worse? Or it didn’t help at all, who knows. But it is frustrating. Now all my idiot friends are shocked that I’m the first one to catch it because I’ve been the “careful” one. It’s frustrating. I sure hope there isn’t long term effects.

See this is what I worry about, I have narcolepsy which is also an auto immune disease so I have been looking at Covid through the lense of something that could potentially cause more auto immune diseases down the road. It will take months, if not years, before they ever let us know that information but it makes sense to me that if you get this infection there is a good chance it will trigger a reaction that is greater than what a person without an auto immune disease. I have certainly been more sick with covid then my husband or daughter was (but she’s young) and the fact I caught it so easily? Just weird. Please take care of yourself.

And also the fact that Florida seems to be doing extraordinarily well without lockdowns and mask mandates. If you look at the graphs for your city you can see cases skyrocketed when mask mandates were implemented. For us we have mandates but the restaurants have stayed opened and now bars are open too and our cases are dropping. When I had to go to dr. And was tested she said cases have dropped significantly and we only have a 5% positive rate. We were up to 30% just a couple of months ago so I think a lot of that has to do with the PCR testing. WHO came out an hour after Biden’s inauguration saying faulty PCR testing has caused over 90% fals positives! All of the sudden cases dropped 70%? Shows us it was a political weapon, which pisses me off because I’ve lost a whole year. I am honestly thinking it was a biological weapon but it’s mutated so much it’s just turning into a regular cold now. I wasn’t that sick at all, I’ve had the flu before and it was way worse! The weird thing is the loss of smell.

My first question.... were the mother’s vaccinated? Which they did not answer in the article.... but did push vaccines at the end. Derp.

“The fetus was infected through the placenta and with a very high degree of certainty, [we can say] died due to coronavirus,” Dr. Tal Brosh, head of the Infectious Disease Department at the Assuta Hospital, told Ynet news.

AstraZeneca vax contains Polysorbate-80 which is used to open up the Blood-Brain-Barrier in some drug delivery systems.

I would bet it also opens up the placental barrier.

If these women were infected, vaccinated, it could explain the result.

Finland declares state of emergency as Covid-19 cases rise

The Finnish government has declared a state of emergency due to rising Covid-19 infections..
...
The decision comes as new variants contribute to a sharp rise in infections in the country,..
..
Several Finnish regions have seen a rapid rise in Covid-19 infections in the past two weeks, with outbreaks among skiers in Lapland and workers at shipping yards and construction sites.

Re: Sars Cov 2 … the grinder continues to eat away at resources and humanity.
Just to summarize my thoughts of why things related to the pandemic can only worsen steadily but at a rate that most people can’t notice enough to get alarmed due to their normalcy bias:

- cases have lowered, but still remain high, so the virus remains a threat.
- New Strains keep appearing and are spreading more or less fast depending on how international travel and local regulations allow, but due to people’s selfishness and idiocy, they will keep spreading.
- Re infection is proven, and the capacity of the vaccines to hinder re infection is just wishful thinking.
- Re infection is as lethal or even slightly more lethal than first infection.
- The vast proportion of the population is tired of doing anything to avoid the spread and just want things “back to normal”, this is only helping increase the speed of spread of new strains. This yearn for normalcy and the tendency to think that the pandemic is over, is the single major factor that will keep things going on and waves of cases and deaths repeating for the foreseeable future.
- Is not a one death blow to civilization but a slow bleeding out that won’t allow things to get better in years to come. People prefer to cling to any hope than accept this harsh reality.
-edit to add: One effect that vaccinated people can have is the possibility furthering the number of cases as they become for all intent and purposes equivalent to asymptomatic cases. The so called “vaccination passport” then could even worse the spread of new strains carried by “vaccinated people” traveling around. This is something that really few people are aware of.

Every wave that we go through.... any country.... they come closer to breaking points.... some places like Manus (Brazil) or war torn countries were already at those points so it doesn’t seem so obvious to many modern country inhabitants.....

I truly hope everyone is ready for the next one....and to those with normalcy bias that this thing becomes “less lethal”.... it ain’t just the upfront death and destruction.... Damn. It.

Beware The Next Wave: What To Expect From Covid-19

Less than 50%

Based on what we know of SARS-CoV-2 and the cold-causing coronaviruses which have long circulated in our communities, coronaviruses can do the same. The first time we noticed SARS-CoV-2’s ability to evolve was last summer, when a virus with a mutation in its spike protein became the dominant strain. Since then, multiple new variants have emerged, often appearing in people who had been fighting the infection over a period of months, giving the virus time and opportunity to adapt to and evade the patient’s natural immune response and medical treatments. The virus can shift, like the flu, within a single patient, as it circulates between people, and even as it jumps from humans to other populations.
