Le Monde, a popular newspaper in France, has published an interview with a Professor of Epidemiology, Antoine Flahault.

From the analysis of daily records of pollutant concentrations in Paris, London and in the Swiss canton of Ticino, they observed that "epidemic storms" (in March in Paris) coincided or occurred just after peaks. PM 2.5 fine particles (less than 2.5 micrometers in size), the most dangerous for health because they penetrate deeply into the body.

Back in the day when we first got to west Texas, one of the first things us mom's learned was to keep our kids inside when it was dust storm season. Even then, the kids would come down with earaches and strep from the dust. We always joked the dust came from New Mexico, but who knows?

It might be worth a look for anyone interested to look into the Dust Bowl days. A LOT of illness out on the plains then. Ken Burns documentary is very good on that subject. Not sure if it's on YT or not.

I've worked with the homeless population in this area and you might be surprised at how many are hardcore about maintaining the lifestyle despite it's challenges.

Yes, if the grid went down that would be a problem. I would probably be Ok, as I have roof solar panels that give me a negative electric bill for 9 months of the year plus I have Tesla battery back ups in the garage. Also, I have a noisy old petrol generator. In Nigeria, in Port Harcourt, the compound I was living in had a diesel generator the size of a train engine that was running about 22 hours per day, the grid was down for that long every day. I had to bribe gangs (ten people surrounding my SUV with guns pointed at me) everyday to let me get to and from work, which was building a library in Port Harcourt. We could not buy food ourselves, white people had to pay 10-20 times as much as locals for food. The police were corrupt, the government was corrupt. I know the US system is not perfect, but when you have to bribe people to do anything, it does give you a different perspective. My employer gave me bribe money every week. The amount varied according to the gangs that were in power that week. This is 40 years ago and it was a memorable year of my colourful life. that is 1 of the reasons for our welfare dept. we pay ppl to NOT do stuff like that. we pay them to stay calm and so they won't disrupt business functions.
