Checking in from my hotel room. Start my next assignment tomorrow. I've been off a month so I'm sure i'll be shell shocked LOL

Our cases have plateaued and seem to be holding steady if not decreasing a little. Now to deal with all of the illnesses that were put to the side during this last wave. Primary Care Physicians need their asses kicked if they refused to see people because of covid. That's where a lot of the people coming to the ER start. The PCP sends people to the ER because they aren't seeing anyone in their offices right now. Fuckers. I wish the general public could see what really happens in the ER on the daily, but we all know a camera crew wouldn't be allowed to follow any employee in the hospital right now. The healthcare system isn't collapsing, it HAS collapsed.

Y'all stay safe out there!!

Understand that. It's always hard after a big time off and then, going back to what you left or worse....not easy.

I know you most likely won't be told this out there, but you ARE doing important work and it IS noticed and appreciated by some. I know I'm grateful for all the medical people that have helped me over the years and just recently. As a patient, it's hard to know who to believe or what to do sometimes. I really wish I could give you a real hug! I think you need one!
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

Awe! It's definitely my calling! I bitch and moan, but it's mostly about the system and a few asshole pts, but I do love helping people.

I know! You wouldn't still be in nursing if that wasn't true. There are days I wish I'd been accepted to nursing school before we moved, but then, I'm not so sure I'd have stuck it out. I'll never know. It was hard to call the school and tell them we'd moved out of state and I couldn't accept the spot.

If we have peaked, then guessing we could see daily deaths peak around 4-5k. Which puts us into Delta highs territory. But that it doesn’t matter because this round was “mild”.

U.S. COVID update: More than 3,500 new deaths

- New cases: 723,973
- Average: 630,755 (-21,071)
- States reporting: 50/50
- In hospital: 146,455 (-2,226)
- In ICU: 25,353 (-391)
- New deaths: 3,551
- Average: 2,437 (+21)

We haven’t peaked. A whole bunch of bad labs failed. The true scope hasn’t hit the news hit. You can search for one out of Chicago.

And we probably pick back up again with BA.2 in roughly 30 days with way less labs.

Nothing we didn’t already suspect/know.

SARS-CoV-2 Remains Infectious on Refrigerated Deli Food, Meats, and Fresh Produce for up to 21 Days

Deli items and meats with high protein, fat, and moisture maintained infectivity of SARS-CoV-2 for up to 21 days. However, processed meat, such as salami, and some fresh produce exhibited antiviral effects. SARS-CoV-2 also remained infectious in ground beef cooked rare or medium, but not well-done. Although infectious SARS-CoV-2 was inactivated on the foods over time, viral RNA was not degraded in similar trends, regardless of food type; thus, PCR-based assays for detection of pathogens on foods only indicate the presence of viral RNA, but do not correlate with presence or quantity of infectious virus. The survival and high recovery of SARS-CoV-2 on certain foods support the possibility that food contaminated with SARS-CoV-2 could potentially be a source of infection

how many cows did they lose in the CANADA flood? combined with any disasters the last 3-4 yrs in the US would tell u how short the supply is.

big 1 i have been hearing bout is fertilizer costs due to lack of imports for materials. this will effect corn and other crops. whihc in turn will drive prices higher.

corn is used in everything from toothpaste to spark plugs.

note- we are not at HI yet. this is all pandemic supply related increases.

equality is a nice word til u realize the only way to get the US equal to ETHIOPIA is to starve us. that is the hidden gem of the propoganda.
