Sorry you ran into that Bastetcat. I had a feeling we were in for it last night when I saw all the sex with dogs threads being bumped earlier in the day. There's a pattern. When the forum gets hit with those types of threads, it almost always gets hit with "shit".

The problem is if you don't see it happen early, you run into crap. I just got lucky this time.

ETA: Just finished my morning stroll through the pages. The last page is full of foreskin threads. Could be we're in for a repeat performance later.

Re: Sars Cov 2 … the grinder continues to eat away at resources and humanity.
I need to apologize for my outburst yesterday. I am in the middle of a night shift stretch and lack of sleep does strange things to me.

It feels like we (health care workers) are fighting a losing battle. Everyone, including myself, talks about how preventative medicine should be pushed more than reactive medicine. Then when something comes along to prevent serious illness there is a huge agenda against it. I admit, I was scared shitless to take the vaccine, but at the time I was watching people suffocate to death while aware of what was happening. It was horrific.

These people who are posting "facts" need their asses beat. Do some research on who they are and what they have to gain from it. I have no idea where these people come from, if they are even humans or just some fucknut making up crap so people will click on their sites and make money. It's always about the money. Many of these same people made fun of Jenny McCartney when she said vaccines cause autism. Remember that? Now these same people are saying vaccines will KILL you. Um, yeah, I'll be sure to listen to these people.

My husband went on a call earlier this year to a person with difficulty breathing and Covid +. When he got there, there was a white male, mid-60's lying on the bed while a doctor was doing chest compressions on him. Well, said doctor had convinced the pt that going to the hospital would kill him and he'd be better off at home doing ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine instead. There was a giant oxygen tank in the room and bottles of said medications on the table. The man died. The doctor had been in trouble with the Board of Medicine in MS due to misconduct, but this middle aged man trusted him for Covid advice, but wouldn't have trusted him with any other medical treatment. A pharmacist had also told this man that if he went to the hospital we would kill him. The family tried to convince the man to go seek help, but he refused. How do I know the details of a random stranger's death? Because he was the step-father of a fire fighter that we know. This is one reason why I take disinformation personally.

If someone told you to take birth control pills instead of antibiotics to cure an infection you'd scoff at them, I hope. "but I read on the internet estrogen will cure a (insert any) infection and antibiotics will kill you" See how strange that sounds? That's what we face with the internet. Bizarre shit comes through the ER for some "remedy" that was found on the internet. I've had potatoes in assholes to cure whatever the illness the person has. Had someone come in with motor oil on an open, weeping wound because they read somewhere this would help. It doesn't.

Choose your information wisely is my best advice. Do I always recommend running to get some meds? Not at all, but do your research on where your alternative medicine sources come from. Hell, I try just about everything reasonably possible to stay off of meds, but when I need meds, I need them. Just trying to save you a huge headache and hospital bill when you try something that is poisonous or doesn't work and prolongs your illness.

I took care of a covid pt last night. First one in months. It's carnival season in the VI's so I expect more to come.

ALERT ALERT

CC u have MP in IA.

we have community spread. this is airborn and not just being spread sexually.

CDC has NOT even notified health services to look for the MP let alone have them testing for it.

based on the info today on the MP thread, there are a lot more cases that are mis-diagnosed. the dr's aren't even considering it. "just a rash".

Those of us who have been here since the beginning have gone through a whirlwind of information, misinformation, disinformation, and outright lies from multiple sources. The ones I respect the most have approached everything from the scientific method, hesitant about new information but willing to consider it until it's been proven or disproven to the best of our collective abilities.

If everyone remembers, I was also extremely hesitant to get the vaccine, not because of 5G, microchips, death jabs, or any of the other numerous conspiracy theories, but because I didn't trust a medication that had been developed, tested, and rushed to production in less than a year. However, I eventually took the shot (and the boosters) when it became evident through personal monitoring of people I know that the vaccine was most likely safe, or at least not as dangerous as the virus.

I think we've earned the right to get angry when people post obvious disinformation. I just ghosted some idiot on Facebook because he was arguing stupid shit about abortions and the EPA, to the extent that it wasn't worth my energy to engage with him at all.

Some of us have disagreed on things, but we work it out like adults. There is almost no one in this thread I would not welcome into my home no questions asked, disagreements or no. (Wordsie has to leave his damn time machine at home, though.)

TH, you're on the front lines. You come in here and rant all you want, and don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't.

You guys are family. (Jazz is the crazy uncle no one ever sees except at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but he's still family.)

It's more important now than ever that we stick together. Serious shit is coming down the road, and we'll need each other when it hits.

crazy uncle? least he didn't say my name was SAM.

since RIFF typed crazy reasons not to take vax, i'll remind u all of the logical reasons. many have been proven right already.

#1> it was bad til we changed who was in the White House and then it was great. this made it politcal not scientific. red flag. this alone was reason not to take it without any other.
if it's political then it isn't science based. we all know no PREZ mixed the vax.

#2> it won't stop u from getting covid. PROVEN

#3> it won't stop the spread. PROVEN

#4> it was a big experiment. i'm not a lab rat. this some might debate, but explain why the batches were different, why the recalls of some batches, and much of what we were led to believe the vax would do failed? see the 2 points above. they did imply those.

5> side effects- unknown since it had been fast-tracked with minimal testing. it takes years to know how ppl on different meds will react to things like this.

6> we do know there are some cases of ppl dying and having bad reactions. these may b very low #'s UNLESS that is YOU.

let's add this up- u still can get covid, so u should avoid catching it. and the vax might kill u depending on your own health situation. seems a no brainer to me. avoid the virus is still the best course of action.

now, i do understand ppl that had to take it for work. and what i will type next ain't good. but it is truth. there's that word that gets me banned again. i don't ridicule them nor hope for bad outcomes.

the FDA approves many many drugs that later are recalled. was the vax even approved officially, or is it still "experimental"? drugs are not recalled generally in the 1st day or week or even year. they are recalled after 5-10 yrs of DATA. even after they are approved by the FDA. ummm covid ain't been around that long, and the vax was almost a year after.

i know how different meds can mess with ppl. i seen it up close. the GF has gone thru enuf medical issues. changing her meds can mess her up sometimes instantly, sometimes subtle and for days or a week. it's chemistry. mix a few together and u might go boom. but they also must b mixed correctly in the right amounts.

let's see where things stand and some data when we get to 2025 or so. we'll know more and what reactions and side effects are happening.

all things considered we'd b lucky to see 2025. things aren't going well.

CDC didn't learn much from covid except how to cover things up better. MP is spreading. do u trust them to see any virus or other germ that emerges on the world scene?

then there is the supply chain issues.

"at best we have 5 yrs of supply capability. at the rate of this slow burn doom, things get tougher by 2024. considering the pricing that has happened thus far, expect prices to double again over the next 2 yrs. plus with gas prices add another 50%. for every $1 now u will pay $2.50."

we're lucky for every day that the power is still on.

There is/was a thread on the main board tonight that had the information in it that they will be updating the vaxxs in the fall to reflect the Omicron variant.

The CDC has voted to forego trials on these modifications. They will use some scientific terminology to try and sell it to the masses, and they will probably accept it. This just makes my mind numb about how the safety of everyone is being disregarded for a pharma dollar.

Monkeypox is totally giving me PTSD from the beginning of covid and I don't like it one bit.

Alert fatigue is a real thing, but I have never seen it on a two-and-a-half year creeping-doom scale like this. We're all being affected by it. Best thing I can recommend is to occasionally take 48 hours and unplug from the news. I've had to do that a few times during this shitshow of continuous crises.

Re: Sars Cov 2 … the grinder continues to eat away at resources and humanity.
crazy uncle? least he didn't say my name was SAM.

since RIFF typed crazy reasons not to take vax, i'll remind u all of the logical reasons. many have been proven right already.

#1> it was bad til we changed who was in the White House and then it was great. this made it politcal not scientific. red flag. this alone was reason not to take it without any other.
if it's political then it isn't science based. we all know no PREZ mixed the vax. so would you have taken it if Trump was still prez? dumbest shit ever

#2> it won't stop u from getting covid. PROVEN it does prevent you from having a severe case of it and less likely to be hospitalized. If you want to take your chance then by all means, do. Don't treat the docs and nurses like shit when you come to the hospital and we don't have anything to offer you except experimental treatments

#3> it won't stop the spread. PROVEN no, but it decreases it

#4> it was a big experiment. i'm not a lab rat. this some might debate, but explain why the batches were different, why the recalls of some batches, and much of what we were led to believe the vax would do failed? see the 2 points above. they did imply those. do you not see that even certain batches of cereal are recalled because something went wrong?

5> side effects- unknown since it had been fast-tracked with minimal testing. it takes years to know how ppl on different meds will react to things like this. [link to www.nationalgeographic.com (secure)]

6> we do know there are some cases of ppl dying and having bad reactions. these may b very low #'s UNLESS that is YOU.
let's add this up- u still can get covid, so u should avoid catching it. and the vax might kill u depending on your own health situation. seems a no brainer to me. avoid the virus is still the best course of action. avoiding the virus is a great strategy for those that don't have to work, go to the doctor, grocery shop and are independently wealthy. Makes perfect sense for some people, but for the 99% rest of us we have to take mitigated chances and for us, that means a 1% chance of dying from the vaccine over the 70% chance of having long covid

now, i do understand ppl that had to take it for work. and what i will type next ain't good. but it is truth. there's that word that gets me banned again. i don't ridicule them nor hope for bad outcomes.

the FDA approves many many drugs that later are recalled. was the vax even approved officially, or is it still "experimental"? drugs are not recalled generally in the 1st day or week or even year. they are recalled after 5-10 yrs of DATA. even after they are approved by the FDA. ummm covid ain't been around that long, and the vax was almost a year after. this statement tells me all I need to know. Yes, it was FDA approved. You are still arguing against an experimental vaccine that is no longer experimental. Yup, many drugs do get recalled so you should stop taking all of them immediately and never take another one for any reason at all. There's a slim chance it can get recalled, you know.

i know how different meds can mess with ppl. i seen it up close. the GF has gone thru enuf medical issues. changing her meds can mess her up sometimes instantly, sometimes subtle and for days or a week. it's chemistry. mix a few together and u might go boom. but they also must b mixed correctly in the right amounts. you literally just said she experiments with her medication by trying different combinations. Do you not know that certain combinations can KILL you? What? There's a small chance that it will, but she chooses to do it anyway? Now that's interesting

let's see where things stand and some data when we get to 2025 or so. we'll know more and what reactions and side effects are happening.
 Quoting: JAZZz50

I sincerely hope you nor anyone you cares about gets seriously ill from covid, but I can't even debate with someone who absolutely will NOT see it any other way. Jesus, Allah or the Flying Spaghetti Monster could come to you and say it's safe and effective, but you'd still not believe them. I've been in the medical field 29 years and have never, ever seen anything ravage so many people no matter what race, religion, sexuality or health status so viciously. Yes, I took care of one of the first AIDS pts in my state so don't try to put AIDS in the conversation. I am sad to see that you'd rather take a chance of covid killing you or causing you serious health problems for the rest of your life rather than trust "big pharma". When you post those statements and in the same post say your girlfriend trusts "big pharma" enough to let her doctor try different combinations of meds that are produced by "big pharma" it just blows my mind. I really don't give a shit if you take the vaccine or not, truthfully.

I believe my time on GLP has come to an end. The bots, crazies, misinformationers and immature posters have ruined it. Some of you have my real world info and if you ever need me for anything feel free to contact me.

Sorry Riff. May your cases be mild and short.

It kind of never fails. When my 2 oldest were little, they got chicken pox from a kid in daycare. My weekend babysitter couldn't take them as she had a couple of littles that hadn't had them yet. I finally found the wife of one of the workers and of course, both kids couldn't possibly have it at the same time. It was one of the longest 2 months ever.

On an odd note, I came on to see if anyone else's area is too quiet for the holiday. We have a very few fireworks going on around us, but nothing compared to the past and NO traffic here, either.

We went to the store on the main drag and traffic was too quiet there for a weekend, too. Don't know where everyone went for the weekend, but they don't seem to be here. Almost creepy, but maybe they'll make up for it tomorrow!?!

Eerily quiet here yesterday afternoon, even for the country. At one point a bird startled and flew off over the cornfield across the road, and I remarked to Raffette how I was reminded of that creepy scene in The Day After where everything goes completely quiet in the country, and then a crow flies across a corn field just before the missiles launch.

Last night there were very few personal fireworks going off anywhere. I could hear some music way off in the distance, probably from a party, but other than that, very quiet here. Even the scanner's been strangely quiet.

The Slow March of Doom continues. At this point, I have no idea what will get us first: Pandemic, supply shortage, energy/fuel shortage, food shortage, civil unrest, or nuclear war.

Guess we'll find out soon enough.

I honestly think stress caused by all of the above is going to get us. I see it everywhere. People I personally know have been losing it over stuff that never would have fazed them before the pandemic. I know I have trouble dealing with things more than I ever did. The whole kidney issue sure doesn't help, either. At least I have a reprieve until September now. Not sure how long that will last. If my numbers stay stable, I won't have to start dialysis yet...hopefully. We still haven't found a decent place to move yet either. Everything in our budget has turned into some of the nastiest fixer uppers I've ever seen. When the interest rates went up, our buying power went down. The nicer places have lower prices just to start bidding wars. I've noticed a lot more older houses of people that have passed, too. I don't mind out dated decor, but can't afford to do total remodel because they thought like my dad. "It's good enough for me. The people that buy it after I die can fix things."

I hope y'all aren't feeling too bad and start getting better quickly.

Yeah, people are wigging out all over. If people were dogs, I'd be expecting a huge record-breaking earthquake right about now.

I hope you can stay off dialysis. That would suck big time under normal circumstances, but in this timeline? Thinking good thoughts for you.

Raffette and I saw the economic downturn coming and we were planning on refinancing our old house before it hit when we accidentally stumbled on the new house being up for sale. Timed the purchase and sale of our old house just right. Less than 60 days from initial offer on buying the old house to closing on the sale of our old house. Our agent hardly had to do any work. We found the new house and we found the buyers for the old house before she could even get it listed. Glad we moved when we did.

Are you looking into foreclosures? You can occasionally find a really good deal that way.

Our symptoms have been mild. I'm about 95% recovered; Raffette's symptoms peaked yesterday so she should start feeling better today and tomorrow. Glad we had our boosters. One positive side-effect of current events is we just notified our workplaces that we tested positive and got two weeks working from home no questions asked. No PTO used, no proof of positive tests, no hassles.

As CC would say, keep swimming. hugs

The biggest problems are that Mr. TB wants to stay in this town and we're right on Lake Erie. Most of the houses for sale are serious mansions or right on the water. Mega bucks for those. Prices for normal houses have started to come down a little the last couple days, but still not enough. They are asking $100k or more for 1 or 2 bdrm trailers that are old! Location, location. I look at the property histories and the increase from 2 or 3 years ago are amazing. A lot of flipped houses on the market and they have a bit of a bad rap here. A handful of people buy up bad houses and paint and put down floors and triple the price.

I try not to worry about it, but it's hard knowing the legal scam the rental company is pulling. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. We could really use a miracle about now.

ETA: Forgot. I've got swimmies on now. Having a hard time treading water lately.

good morning,

glad to hear you all are on the mend RIFF.

TB, it is ruff everywhere indeed. things also take longer to accomplish now than before the virus. i've looked for a place for too long. i think we have til winter at best case to get out of our apartment. then the rent will increase and this winter i don't want to bet the power stays on.

everyone feels stuck. even those out and about know the $$ will run out for them with the inflation ongoing.

I do have to admit, I've kind of enjoyed looking at some of the mansions that are for sale! Some are over a 100 years old and really cool, but the newer ones? They can keep them. I looked at one yesterday on one of the islands. I kept checking to make sure it really was a house! It sure wasn't a HOME. Beautiful, but looked almost corporate to me. We'd need walkie talkies to find everyone in the house! LOL

Y'all stay safe out there!
