Water concerns..... this time.... a bit more dramatic.

Coalescence of co-infection and antimicrobial resistance with SARS-CoV-2 infection: the blues of post-COVID-19 world

Less than 50%

Antimicrobials cannot be completely removed in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and once they enter the water environment, possesses great risk of inducing resistance to drugs in microbes.

Jazz

Remember about this time last year there was this book that a woman wrote if I remember right back in the 1980's which was very prophetic. In it she described a mysterious virus that suddenly appears in Wuhan China. In it she goes on to describe how the virus suddenly appears, then just as fast it disappears only to return 20 years later

anybody else remember this?

It was that Cynthia.... blah... forgot her last name. I listed to her book at the beginning.... (I got that wrong too.... Sylvia Brown)

I was unimpressed with her track record. And she said within a few months.... it’s been over 12.
 Quoting: CleverCreator

There was also an image that went around of the cover of a Dean Koontz novel, The Eyes of Darkness. He called the virus the Wuhan 400 in the 1989 reprint. (But it was very different from sars/cov2 or cv19.)

There was also the image of the Sylvia Browne prophecy that got circulated, and sometimes the two got added together.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79812279

I downloaded Sylvia's book and skimmed.

Nope, she did NOT predict the future very well.

George really misleads with celebrating North Dakota’s positivity level.... and I am one with the self control.... but let’s do a breakdown....

[link to godlike.com (secure)]

The tweet says 35 new cases on Sunday. 142 active cases

Let’s start with their total population: 765,309

And then their dashboard....

[link to www.health.nd.gov (secure)]

First.... there are now 710 active cases....

Oh worse... the dashboard lists current population as:

762,062

Total confirmed cases (PCR only) since testing began: 94,273

Roughly 12% of their population has been confirmed positive. This isn’t a statistic that is any different than any other state. Weirdness.... not.

Natural viral wave progression.

Reality is the whole US is at about 30% to 40% infected.

My friend is feeling unwell. Not one that went to FL. She works in the hotel industry and has been dating so def not taking precautions. This was her explanation of symptoms... Don't know of its covid or not, unsure if she is going to get tested...

It was like allergies. Sneezing, running nose very red eyes and stuffed up.i got very light headed last night and almost passed out with the sweats. Woke up freezing.

I had to sit down on the bathroom floor while I was trying to brush my teeth. Thought I was better walked into the hallway and fell on my knees.

She seems to be feeling better she said but damn what the hell is that. She wasn't nauseous and had eaten so wasn't on an empty stomach either.

I don’t agree with their stats.... as they aren’t including boosters needed....

But interesting to note.... they take infections all the way out to January 2022.

From DT’s thread.... and brrrrrrrr. I don’t miss ice storms.

Hey, y'all. Popping back in to say all is well as far as our health after vaccinations. My 2nd was Jan 16, Pfizer. Hubby's 2nd was 13 days ago, Moderna. Hospitalizations are going down here. I'm not counting cases or deaths because our testing sites were offline for a week and our mail didn't run for a few days so not sure if the death certificates made it to the Dept of Health to be counted. Yes, our mail really did stop running. We had about 2 inches of sleet that froze solid and a day later had 0.5" of freezing rain/ice. It was a hot fucking mess. I can say we never lost power at the house, though!

We survived the ice storm and it made me realize we NEED to get a 4wd jeep *wink* Ate a lot of my Covid preps so will need to stock up again once the stores have items. The shelves were bare from trucks not running, not panic buying.

I haven't had time to catch up, but will try to read the last 10 pages or so. I'll be back later!

Kidney stone? I have experienced one of those. The pain started at home, drove myself to urgent care. Bad decision, waves of pain washed over me, thought I was going to faint driving. Luckily, once they checked me in, I passed a small piece of it and miraculously the pain minimized dramatically. Now I drink as much water as I can and have Norco medication in case it comes back.

Hello CleverCreator, hope this thread gets less bogged down by trolls.

I think we are entering a lull phase of the pandemic, mostly because the measures reduced the number of cases, but won’t last much, people lowers the guard and numbers hike back up quickly. Vaccines will never be able to induce a higher immunity than the disease itself so the false sense of security will be even worst.

Not really awake yet, but I saw SpinalCracker's question about bookmarking and wanted to answer it quick.

To bookmark a thread, go to OP's very first post. Go to the left side, below the avatar. There is a list of options. You want to click on "Add to personal pins". That will pin the thread above the daily site pins and only you can take it down.

Hope that makes sense.

And now....back to coffee and waking up. See ya later!

So, I started a discussion with my students in my Abnormal Psych class about the Coronaphobia article that came up a week or so ago. They were pretty much in agreement with what we were saying -- that it was pathologizing the very things we have been advised to practice during a pandemic, and that it seemed almost like mocking or gaslighting people who were taking the threat seriously.

I actually rather doubt that was the intention of the authors, though it is the effect it has on people who read.

One of my students asked who funded the study, which is a damn fine question. I intend to find out.

The incapacity of registering deaths and of capturing all COVID related deaths skews the pandemic toll not only in African countries, but also in Latin America (Mexico, Peru and Ecuador have excess deaths that are twice or thrice the official Covid toll), and Russia has also recognized its incapacity of detecting all their cases and admitted its likely capturing only a third.
