Quoting: Cock Goblin Jazz Remember about this time last year there was this book that a woman wrote if I remember right back in the 1980's which was very prophetic. In it she described a mysterious virus that suddenly appears in Wuhan China. In it she goes on to describe how the virus suddenly appears, then just as fast it disappears only to return 20 years later anybody else remember this? It was that Cynthia.... blah... forgot her last name. I listed to her book at the beginning.... (I got that wrong too.... Sylvia Brown) I was unimpressed with her track record. And she said within a few months.... it’s been over 12. There was also an image that went around of the cover of a Dean Koontz novel, The Eyes of Darkness. He called the virus the Wuhan 400 in the 1989 reprint. (But it was very different from sars/cov2 or cv19.) There was also the image of the Sylvia Browne prophecy that got circulated, and sometimes the two got added together. I downloaded Sylvia's book and skimmed. Nope, she did NOT predict the future very well. She was mostly sizzle and not much steak. What y'all in Texas would describe as "big hat/no cattle". My 2nd was Jan 16, Pfizer. Hubby's 2nd was 13 days ago, Moderna. Hospitalizations are going down here. I'm not counting cases or deaths because our testing sites were offline for a week and our mail didn't run for a few days so not sure if the death certificates made it to the Dept of Health to be counted. Yes, our mail really did stop running. We had about 2 inches of sleet that froze solid and a day later had 0.5" of freezing rain/ice. It was a hot fucking mess. I can say we never lost power at the house, though! They were pretty much in agreement with what we were saying -- that it was pathologizing the very things we have been advised to practice during a pandemic, and that it seemed almost like mocking or gaslighting people who were taking the threat seriously. I actually rather doubt that was the intention of the authors, though it is the effect it has on people who read. One of my students asked who funded the study, which is a damn fine question. I intend to find out. Looks like freedom but it feels like death. It's something in between I guess... it's closing time. Lenonard Cohen |
