I really don't know what is going on in my city, but it is getting out of control. There is a tension and aggression in the air. This is just a part of things falling apart. Not Covid-related necessarily, but a crossroads of systemic societal problems. Maybe...I don't need to explain to y'all that have been on COG Watch for the past year. Because my house is a LEO household, the phone is ringing off the hook nowadays. But here is a rundown of today's Memphis violence news:

Memphis, Tenn. — Memphis Police have identified the man they said is responsible for a shooting that left a 4-year-old boy dead Saturday night.

I stopped here only because I got tired of copy/pasting. If you browse the headlines from the homepages of the big 3 news stations here, you will see just how bad it has become in Memphis.

Covid cases are being reported but not promoted. Those stories are waaay at the bottom of the sites.

SCHD reports 200 new cases with a 10% positivity rate. In a ZOOM call with local business owners, someone said this (and I believe it 100% as I am on the ground here):

"The pandemic is over. When the next surge hits, there will not be any new guidelines. If the Health Department calls for restrictions, no one will enforce t GE guidelines. They've been told."
