They have since discovered, that a heightened state of immunity for any reason during pregnancy (like infection, autoimmune disease flaring, etc.) can cause attacks of antibodies that alter the fetal neurological development. I have met other Lupus patients with similar stories about their offspring, especially boys. High nagalase levels are also a sign of autoimmune activity/disease process, inflammation, etc. So it makes sense. My nagalase was off the charts, and it messed him up, poor kid. He has been thru hell. Blame his dad, we had a family to care for, and he didn't give a crap, no medical for me, nope, nothing. Obamacare, albeit controversial, would have been great to have back then. I was in a loophole, no coverage, no help, nobody cared. Nearly died multiple times, ended up permanently disabled.
