I wrote it weird. It doesn't matter that much that the sun is as far as it is. It still relevant that the light is coming from the sun as it determines the angle of the shadow.
The facts I have wrote here together with the video showing example of the shadow's travel on the surface should be enough for you to understand why the eclipse goes from West to East.

It's basic math and probably all of the other people reading this thread have gotten it by now. If the Moon goes by the Sun in two hours when viewed on a single point on Earth that should be enough of an evidence to you that because of the distances between the Earth, the Moon and the Sun it's impossible for the rotation to be faster than how fast the shadow of the Moon is traveling on the surface of the Earth. I'll give one more. Here's a picture in scale of the Moon and the Earth: [ link to upload.wikimedia.org (secure)] Now picture the Sun way to the right and how the Moon just barely covers it when viewed from a single point on the Earth. Now picture the Moon traveling its diameter or better yet two in up or down direction. You can draw lines in your mind from the far right and see The Sun isn't covered anymore by any point on Earth. So if it only takes a few hours for the shadow to move across Earth's surface it's faster than the rotation. You should be able to figure this out. You are saying absolutely nothing here, all imprecise garble bwahaha. As indicated by my proof, the predominant cause of the motion of the moon's shadow, assuming the space balls theory is true, would be the earth's rotation, not the moon's motion. The earth's rotation contributes an East to West shadow motion component with a speed of 15 degrees per hour, and the moon's motion contributes a West to East shadow motion component with a speed of only 0.6 degrees per hour. The end result is an East to West motion with a speed of 15-0.6=14.4 degrees per hour in the East to West direction. All of your garble about the width of the sun blah blah is irrelevant because the model in my proof tracks the centers of the of the Earth moon sun, which in fact will track the center of the shadow which is a good approximation. I would like to say the same to you, that you should be able to figure this out, but I actually don't think you can bwahaha. So what's next from you, more imprecise layman garble? Oh boy, joy for me, I just can't wait. Bwahaha At this point I'm wondering if you are trolling, since this should be pretty easy to understand and there are multiple people telling you in multiple ways why and how this happens. If you don't actually understand it and are not trolling here are a few videos more I hope you will be able to look at and maybe it will become clear:
