“All of the sudden the power goes out, and you hear curse words and people sighing.” Sound familiar? It’s a scene that’s played out in homes across Texas. But this time, it was at the H-E-B Plus on U.S. 183, says Shelby Lasker.

Lasker, who lives in Leander and works in childcare, said she was at the grocery store Tuesday afternoon when the power went out. She was there hoping to get supplies as winter storms wrought havoc in the Austin area.

Very smart and humanitarian thing to do.

Store owners know if the power is out for over a certain amount of time, they have to throw all the refrigerated and frozen stock in the trash...by law.

Might as well let people have some use out of it.

Can probably still claim the entire inventory on insurance

Texans are great people. Kind, neighbourly decent. Old school manners. I love them.

Lived there many years ago, and they couldnt have been kinder . Annoyed the hell out of me this week, when some people were almost glad Texans got battered by the weather.

I will always love Texas, will always hold a very special place in my heart. Last time I was there was about 4 years ago.

Hope to get back again for another visit. Brush up on my rusty 'two-stepping'

Knowing small town Texans, I'll bet most returned later to pay the store for their groceries!

HEB is a great store.

Wegmans was also a great store when I lived in the Buffalo area.

But don't say anything bad about HEB, because they are a great store.

It's a grocery store, you ill informed nitwit.

They also own Central Market -- a store that puts Whole Foods to shame.

Wow that is a beautiful act on the owner's part.

I'd gladly come back and pay and give them a 20% tip to support the owner's of the company!

This gives me feel good about being human again

THANK YOU HEB FAMILY!

Texas is full of good and decent people, but unfortunately that will eventually change after enough Liberals move it. Liberals ruin every place that they migrate to.

Awesome gesture and kudos to them. I still think their grocery stores are some of the worst I've ever seen tho. Sorry! It's just that after seing Wegman's in upstate NY or Meijers in the midwest, you get spoiled. HEB just is NOT a good grocery store....good people there tho!

Just sayin'....1dunno1
