Had hawks before, but none lately. Usually they fly through and things go back to normal. My feeder usually has about 15 small birds at a time. All jousting to get a spot. Usually about 6 quail under the feeder getting fallen seeds. I have usually about 30 quail when I toss a few handfuls on my patio. I left the house earlier and first thing I checked when I got back was the feeder. Still no birds at all. Maybe some microwaves are making them move away, but I live in a small town. This is the first time something like this has happened. Quail are here year round.

Even in cold weather they are here. Birds don't seem affected by the cold. But it is nice right now.

I buy the expensive finch feed so no complaints. Also nice black oil sunflower seeds.

Update. Quail finally showed up. All song birds still gone. Feeder still full.

Glad the quail came back, I hope the others are back soon. Personally I couldn't bear life without the birds.

What area of Canada are you in?

Hello. I am in the sunny Okanagan. I am thinking maybe those little birds were cold weather types. Seems they showed up in the beginning of winter. Funny how the quail come running when I call them. They prefer to walk instead of flying.
