Supply /Demand was the cause, specifically a lack of supply of crude oil. Not every price swing in the markets is caused by politics ... sometimes it is Adam Smith at work. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79096761 Sorry Biden had nothing to do with it. Supply /Demand was the cause, specifically a lack of supply of crude oil. Not every price swing in the markets is caused by politics ... sometimes it is Adam Smith at work. No, there are reserves at the refineries that flatten the supply spikes. This reaction is definitely political. Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast. User ID: 53502274 United States 02/22/2021 11:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's jumping a few cents almost every day here in the northeast. I'm spending on average 30 dollars in gas a day now. Thanks Joe! Quoting: BluRain508 Unless you're driving out of the state every day there's no way. Or unless you're driving a car that gets 6 miles to the gallon. Maybe, BluRain508, has a 1950's truck, CivilWarMonger. I do not think those vehicles were fuel efficient whatsoever. User ID: 79147397 United States 02/22/2021 11:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Welcome to 20 dollars a gallon. That is a figure we can conceptualize. As the dollar fails, it will be 78 grand per gallon in USD. In other words, get the fuck out of fiat. If the dollar falls then other countries will want to buy US goods because they are cheap. Americans will clean up. With a strong dollar Americans can buy more foreign goods for cheap. I don’t get the gold standard, why not the aluminum standard, or uranium standard, or helium standard, or the brondo standard? Why pick one element when you have a whole economy producing trillions of dollars in output? There isn’t enough gold in the world to cover the wealth of the US. The US production for one year is worth more than the gold reserves in fort knox. Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast. The largest oil refinery in the country, Motiva Enterprises, said freezing temperatures were behind the decision to “safely and methodically” pause operations in Port Arthur, Texas. and: Reuters reported that Marathon Petroleum also halted operations at their Texas refineries Monday. Marathon Petroleum spokesperson Jamal Kheiry declined to comment on the Galveston Bay Refinery, which produces 585,000 barrels of oil per day. (my comment: Marathon Petroleum is the largest refiner in the United States with MULTIPLE refineries in Texas) and: Citgo Petroleum said it also shut down “some units” at its Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery because of “third party interruptions” caused by the weather. More than 3 million barrels of daily oil-processing capacity has been idled in the wake of the record-setting cold, according to consultant Energy Aspects Ltd.
