I joined MENSA to meet intelligent women. However, it was in Kahlifornia, so the majority were pretty strange. I ended up marrying a woman from a family of very high IQs and we had a couple of very bright kids. When I was in aerospace I spent 7 years working with our most advanced tech. I would bet that almost none of the engineers and scientists I worked with were under 150 and some were much higher. Some seemed perfectly normal. Others were like the stereotype of the mad scientist. I had a bro-in-law with an IQ of 200. I bought him a lab coat that said on the back "Union of Mad Scientists, Local 86". He wore it proudly. He WAS, in fact, bipolar and he worked in a lab. Those are the scary ones. I'm a physicist with IQ ~130, and work with seriously smart people from all around the world. The smarter they are, the more "IQ glitches" (depression, bipolarity, paranoia, autistic characteristics, etc.) they seem to express. I have no problem with "the mad scientists" and their quirks. However, the really sharp ones who also appear normal... the just fucking creep me out. It feels like you're not talking to a human but an alien; or that you're a mouse before a snake. It's not that they're rude, condescending or overtly threatening in any way. It's the constant full-spectrum (linguistic, intellectual, emotional) manipulation you've got to watch out for. It's a very tiresome defensive battle even if you're supposed to work with them. It does seem like some very intelligent people tend to be sociopaths or psychopaths I have sat around a table, at a British pub in San Antonio, while accompanying Mr. LJS to a conference, with some of the most brilliant Physicists in the world. I found their quirky sense of humor to be hilarious. Unless you knew who they were, they appeared to be another group of tipsy people, but unusually quick witted. Yo, LJS! I also used to be a member of LASFS (Los Angeles Science Fiction Society). They had a group of the smartest, funniest people I had ever met. I used to go and chat with some of my fave SF authors who attended. |

I was a missionary in kenya and I stayed with a tribe for 2 weeks. They had pet babboons , hyenas and They can make bow and arrows out of bark very easily. Very good at hunting, they were masters at tracking animals. Building a hut is a very good skill. Also they would climb 20-50 ft trees for honey without ropes or anything. Surviving in the wild takes intelligence, just diffeent then modern intelligence. And amazing hospitality. They would share with me all the food i wanted.
