Simple. It’s called virtue signaling. Makes them feel superior and moral while they regularly break every Commandment in the book. It’s a substitute for morality ... just like Greenism is a substitute religion. People crave a moral system, and when they don’t have one then masking fills that void. Like with other moral systems, though, its practitioners fall into the trap of feeling superior to those who don’t practice it. This virtue signaling.
