earlier it was not nearly as smokey and off to the right you could see a circle of lights in the sky - no joke. can't believe no one has heard anything. oh well.

are those little fires off to the left? My vision isn't what it used to be unfortunately.

There is definitely a massive plume of smoke. It fountained up and has now settled like a pall over everything.

My guesses right now:

1) Another faulty airline jet (for some reason we are seeing much more of these than "normal")

2) Jet fuel leak/spill which caught fire. Explains why it's black plumes at least.

That's as far as I could get with little to no info on the web about this.

This is a stretch....but I'm wondering if the actual source of this smoke is below surface.

According to people in the chat, DC is grounded and air space cleared.

2/23 was a date we were warned about...so perhaps this is in relation to that.

On this view, earlier, when it wasn't as smokey, off to the right where you see two lights, there was a large ring of them.....crazy

There's literally nothing on the web right now about any of this either.

Pretty odd to not see anything on twitter etc.

Might even just be heavy amounts of steam that is sticking around longer than usual due to weather there. It's 33 degrees according to weather sites. Any time you have steam billowing at around freezing temp, the steam turns into heavy dense fog as well.

I agree, doesn't look like steam/fog to me from the angles of the livestreams you linked. But it's hard to tell due to it being nighttime there as well.

Easy for our eyes to be tricked just by that factor alone.

I also wasn't able to find anything about DC air space clearing and grounding flights.

According to this site, I don't see any commercial airliners etc up in the air around there. Just a few small planes.
