Thats per orbit, which it orbits several time a day. The new rover perseverance is capable of a pretty speedy 2mb/sec connection. It can trasmit and receive low speed data at pretty much anytime. This is mainly used to send instructions to the rover. We have been sending information like this since the viking landers. Do they have a series of geo satilites to receive transmissions and send back to earth? If not... there is ZERO CHANCE they can send not just 2MB but any data if there is not line of sight of some kind. I do radio for a living. |
