Agreed . We need some self discipline to keep that proportion, and not to jump into something that looks too promising to miss.

I sold a bunch of positions yesterday to a nice bit of profit. I didn't liquidate anything, just reduced the held shares.

I'll continue to hold until the gains exceed some multiple of the commission fee for the sale (I have a small portfolio so we ain't talking big sums of money), then skim off the profits.

So long as I make/skim a sum of money in excess of the total value of securities, I will be satisfied and call the experience a win. Then it can go to fuck for all I care.

When that day comes gold & silver will be the least of your problems. You better learn to farm and have a farm.
