Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27391105 Does that even matter? Give me your opinion. My Maples usually go a little higher than Eagles, but it is primarily due to the interest level in maples, they are not sold on secondary market as often as eagles, sooo scarcity... |

Ask your self this one question- Who in the flying fuck is ever going to melt these down so why does it matter?? |

At some point...an ounce is an ounce is an ounce. Holding for value protection...if it goes to the moon...awesome...but... |

Silver Britannia are exempt from capital gains tax in Britain. Silver Eagles are taxed at 28% by the IRS in the 'land of the free'. As far as you are concerned, a maple would be just as good as an eagle but an eagle *might* have slightly more attachment and therefore easier to sell to other people in your country. |

The Art of making Colloidal Silver User ID: 81679411 United States 06/08/2022 02:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you plan to ever use it for colloidal silver (you should!), go for the maples which are .9999. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76065401 https://imgur.com/F5tOUWj I was cleaning up my workshop the other day, and I found a piece of my history of exploring "the art of making colloidal silver." It is five 1988 Canadian Silver Maple leaf coins. I got these as soon as they came out to have a source of silver, of which I could be sure. The 12gauge silver wire that I had them linked with is 999 from a reputable company, but with no knowledge of the impurities. I continued to be frustrated in my experiments to control particle size while attaining high levels of ionic content. As you can see from the picture, the silver oxide buildup on the Maple leaf coins was very heavy and required wire brushing to clean it off. The reason for the corrosion was the numerous indentations on the coins themselves. These indentations formed walls spaced so closely together that ions were not allowed to entirely escape the Maple leaves without combining and forming particles of silver oxide, which would then attach themselves to the surface. When I would grind the silver oxide off with a wire wheel, the scratches formed, and the same phenomenon would repeat itself. The "Nernst diffusion area causes this difficulty." It describes the limits for how many ions can escape from a given surface area, even a completely smooth area. The indentations on the coins form walls, the distance between them less than the diffusion area. So for those of you who are using Canadian silver Maple leaf coins, I can assure you that I agree with your reasoning completely. When it comes to what I'm going to put into my body, I'm not a "trusting" person. If I did not have a source of silver wire that I was certain of, I would still be using Maple leafs myself. Using silver from your local jeweler for making colloidal silver may not be a good idea. How do you know it is 9999? I would hesitate to buy my silver from anyone who has many different types of silver around. When you have a lot of silver types around, it is too easy to make a mistake. A mistake could have serious health consequences. We all take chances in life because we have to, but certified sources of 9999 silver from people who sell nothing else is available. The cost of silver in question amounts to only pennies per gallon of colloidal silver produced. That is especially true when you follow the excellent advice about limiting the current to make the smallest possible particle size. Remember, we are talking here in parts per million, so 1 ounce of silver will produce at 10 PPM, 100,000 ounces of colloidal silver 100,000 ounces is 1564 gallons of colloidal silver. If you are buying a generator from someone, you should inquire about the length and the gauge of a wire supply. For 10gauge wire, 20 inches equals 1 ounce. For 12gauge, 36 inches equals 1 ounce. If they don’t tell you how much silver wire they supply with the generator, you might think twice about buying. Anything smaller than 12gauge is not worth using as the surface area will quickly become too small. https://imgur.com/a/HPMB4OQ Last Edited by abeland1 on 11/22/2022 06:55 PM |

Give me your opinion. possibly. you can verify authenticity of a coin using a tone app. each coin has resonant frequencies that your phone can verify. I don't buy Gold Maples specifically because they're too soft to ring true consistently. They are the only gold coin I have trouble verifying. it's possible same may hold true for silver. . |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 81452734 06/08/2022 03:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Silver content is equal, purity % is accounted for it all that. As for purity, the extra 9 at that point is mostly meaningless. For demand factors: Well, in terms of modern pricing differences that would all fall under "numismatics". Collectors and whatnot who care about the coin for being a coin, rather than the silver content. Honestly, I consider that whole category a farce anyways. There is the issue of verifiability. Ways of testing aside, the main thing big national mint coinage has going for it is the legal threat behind them: Making a fake Eagle or Maple carries some very hefty penalties and possibly some very well funded and underutilized agency policing it if they get wind of someone doing it. This is 10x an issue with Britannias, specifically because of Newton. Do not fuck with the royal mint. I'm not sure if they still cut your hands off for it... Speaking of Britannias and the Royal mint, if you want silver ounces that are easily verifiable, Britannias from the past two years are the way to go. They have a ton of really cool anti-counterfeiting measures on them. Premium wise they tend to be cheaper that Eagles anyways when dealing with wholesellers. |
