Damn I miss that show

There used to be 27 cashiers at all times at our Frys.
I did xmas shopping thus year, only ONE CASHIER and I was the only customer in 20,000 square feet of store.

Death by covid.

Sounds about right. Immensely tragic too. Fry's Electronics used to be my most favorite electronics store to go to for anything electronics.

Another victim of the retail apocalypse.

Though word is, they are as much a victim of epic mismanagement as well.

In the late 90's and early 2000's this was a super fun place to shop... you could wander around for hours there, grab a bite at the cafe, then queue up for a line of two dozen checkers. It was a fantastic shopping experience.

After about 2005 there seemed to be more problems... much of the time if someone returned a defective item, instead of sending it back to the manufacturer it would just get shrink-wrapped and put back on the shelves. Toward the end, nearly everything on the shelves was merchandise that was unacceptable, broken, not working etc.

Sad but the writing's been on the wall for a while.

How strange that I should be their last customer in Houston last night. The place was empty except for me and about 8 employees.

I walked in one a few weeks ago and half the interior was walled off and empty. I was THE ONLY customer in the massive space and there were four employees walking around but no one even bothered to ask me if I needed help.

It's been dying for the past few years.

Every time I considered shopping there they never had anything I wanted in stock or they just had a very limited selection.

By the time I bought the computer parts for my main computer's latest incarnation this was the case at the Fry's Electronics in Dallas. It really sucked because they had some great deals, but very limited number of different products. What products they did have they usually had alot of.

Here in Arizona, we are seeing big box stores closing, but not all of them.

Also a lot of small businesses are starting to close. Not just restaurants, but places like dry cleaners that have been around for years.

did they stop you and check your receipt?

They never had one in Albuquirky. There's no good place to get electronic shit except mail order.

Now I can't even get eshit in Phoenix.

Fry’s Electronics is closing all their remaining stores for good.

Heck, I had that problem in 2009 when I built my first pc. Though, I swear they were trying to upsell me on parts.

About it here too, man.

But I'll be you the CEOs that ran it into the ground over the years made out like bandits with short term stock options!

It is the epitome of American capitalism a real success story!

I think its a supply issue.

You can't find jack shit for pc parts online or in stores. So its not anything to do with people ordering shit online only. Go try to find a new video card or one of amd's new cpus.. Doubt you find one unless you wanna pay 3k for a 3090 rtx..
