They have no right under section 6 of Canada code and 14.1 of emergency act. You can refuse any COVID test or quarantine , even free travel. They know this.

Ok, they fined him $750 Canadian dollars (with taxes & fees) $880.

On his previous tickets, they've postponed his court appearances 4 (maybe 5) months already.
It looks like the Charter of Rights item he named to the police, will cause the court to throw out the ticket when he finally appears in court.

And further... if you refuse, they'll issue you a $750 ticket (with additional taxes and fees, it is $880), which is STILL a $1000 less than a stay at Hotel Covid Canada.

However, that's for coming in on a flight.
For a land crossing, they require a PCR test AT the border (and a negative PCR test SIMPLY to cross). So, if you refuse at a land crossing, they'll issue you an $880 ticket.

What I don't know is... at the land crossing, even if you tested negative 72 hours before to cross... can you continue on to your designated quarantine site?

Or will you be forced to pay for a stay at Hotel Covid Canada???

I'm from AZ where most are very conservative/libertarian and will say Canadians get a bad rap.

Most I've found in their middle and western provinces are salt-of-the-Earth individuals that are far tougher & resolute than the average US conservative/libertarian.
