Pendle Hill. You can feel the ripples in the air. Popular place for seances and the like, long history of visionary experiences by those who tune in there.

Lots....

Worked in a house that had cages built into a few rooms.....the owner sez his son has mental issues and sometimes get violent .....they lock him in one of the rooms while they slept to protect the family...big guy too, I saw size 15 shoes....

During a off trail hike, I found the foundation of a old cabin in the middle of the woods....nothing around for 20 miles....still had a small family burial plot behind the foundation...could read the grave markers, looks to be Cyrillic with partial dates from 1700s.... it was remote enough that there was no graffiti or debris from kids partying there....I marked it on a map for rangers....

Oh shit, that first story is worrying. Imagine having to deal with that 6 foot 5 "kid" who could kill you.

Weird to find a cabin in the middle of nowhere with graves from 300 years ago. Wonder who they were and how they eked out an existence back then?

Foreclosed houses

I go in and take pics for appraisals

You can tell a lit of them didn’t know it was coming and left in a hurry

It’s scary

Food on the table and dishes in the sink ... toys and baby items not taken

Knock at the Door

They grabbed what they could in a little time

Shelves of canned goods left

Laptops and video games still out in living room

Newspapers from several YEARS AGO - had one in 2013 I went in and papers and mail were all from 2008 ... mold in bedroom from roof leak...

One had a foot of water in the basement

Clothes in the closets

Lawnmower and tools in the shed or garage

They just LEFT

And I wonder about the families ... put out after unemployment ate up their life like a ravenous wolf back in that crash

The sentiments still linger of hurry and fear

I pray for them and their babies that they are safe and happy now.

Lots of saleable stuff - they didn’t even get to have a garage sale and get some cash together.

Food clothes tv’s appliances furniture disgusting with mice and spiders and sometimes mold

It’s heartbreaking

I moved into a house like that. You could still feel the anger and despair swirling around that house.

Old boarded up mansion in the middle of nowhere, on my own getting dark just to set the scene for you lol, decided to have a closer look at the fantastic Victorian staircase that had a Titanic look to it..

I swear a noise came down the stairs like a bowling ball dropping on wood bump bump bump bump I can tell you now I left scorch marks on the floor with hasty exit.... Freaks me out to this day!

Yeah, a few years ago I saw a video on YouTube of an abandoned nice house that was owned by a black family who look happy in the photos left behind. The house still had all the furniture, toys, VHS tapes, but was in a bit of disarray which may have been caused by vandals/thieves. Very... sad feeling comes over after a while as there is no explanation for why a happy well-off family would just BOLT out of their lovely house like that. The mind starts to swirl. I still think about that house and family from time to time.

Re: Creepiest places you have ever visited?
Was checking out a rental house one time that we knew nobody stayed in for more than a week or two. When we went through the front gate, it slammed behind us. Okay.

Inside everything was dark and heavy and in the master bedroom the air was very oppressive, very dark.

Leaving, the door slammed behind us as if to say "and stay out". No problem.
No one would tell us the history, I'd say Satanism and murders.

Suburb of Sacramento, Natomas area.

Damn, that's scary! There are so many videos on YouTube of people going into rotted out old abandoned buildings. One I saw had about four early 20s males in such a building and they eventually found their way up to the top floor where there was a dead body hanging from the ceiling. BAM! You just see it. BAM!

Apparently, there had been a group of illegal Mexican immigrants living in the building and they got rounded up and deported except for one guy who must have came back and just despaired and eventually killed himself rather than go back to a life of nothingness in Mexico.

The Missouri ozarks has lots of them, abandoned homesteads and family farms- the offspring eventually realized there was more to be had out of life than being a subsistence farmer. Once nobody was there to keep the land cleared nature moved back in.

Fisher Hall, Miami University. A haunted dorm that has since been demolished.

It was "tradition" for people to roam around in Fisher on Halloween. However, campus security knew this, so it was a bit difficult to get in.

In my freshman year my roommate and I got in, and I ended up being terrified. Will never forget it.
The more I know, the crazier I appear to be.

Re: Creepiest places you have ever visited?
I used to do medical missionary work (giving people eyeglasses) in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda).

One time I stepped off the plane and was overwhelmed; the demons were so strong, I could feel them.

There's really no describing it, except to say that it was very oppressive, a feeling of hopelessness and great despair mixed with a strong feeling of inferiority among other depressing and hateful things. Even the air felt thick. It was that strong.

A colleague with my group, who's not sensitive to these things like I am, said she could feel it too. I didn't even have to bring up the subject. She mentioned it first.

This was in '94 about 2 weeks before the Rwanda massacre occurred. That might have been what we were sensing, and it doesn't surprise me at all that a genocide would have a demonic influence driving it.

Re: Creepiest places you have ever visited?
When i was a kid, my family used to stay at a campground on a lake in the east coast. It was a trailer campground...lots of people, kids etc. Great fun for the most part.

But...there was an abandoned cabin in the woods that all the kids were afraid to go into. There were tons of stories about it that the kids shared to freak each other out.

Anyway, one time a few of us gathered the courage to go check it out. Even though it was day time, the cabin was so deep in the bush it was actually pretty dark.

We ended up trapped inside. The door got stuck shut and all the windows had been boarded up. We were all about 10-12 years old and scared as fuck. We saw shit that day, that is forever burned in memory. It is still with me.

I second this.

I used to run construction projects in DC and Baltimore.

Baltimore is an armpit (outside the inner harbor) but DC is just evil...especially the south east and south west quadrants.
