Last year actually... In my area for months now almost no business I have been to so far have been enforcing this asinine forced face mask wearing nonsense. Sure, every business has the "FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED HERE!" and that sign's various variants. Do not be scared of those signs! Just go into said business without wearing a face mask. If the employee(s) do not bother you about not wearing a face mask, shop there! If they bother you to wear a face mask simply turn around and promptly leave. Deny them your business.

In my area of Texas, most independent stores and shops have
already dropped the mandate on their own.

Walmart, HEB, chain fuel stations, etc.. all have signs up asking for
mask use, but many do not enforce it.

There never has been a state wide mask order in Texas. It has been up to the counties. Those counties that are mostly conservative don't have strict mask rules. It is up to the store owner if he requires a maskin most cases. Hospitals, restaurants, schools etc do require them still. Masks are a joke and need to be put aside forever. Masks are a danger to your own health.
