Most obvious reason - to me, is the apparent diversion of industrial physical silver to meet the growing demand for physical. Better to close some factories, lay off people, than have the entire financial system blown up by a triple digit SILVER price.

It looks like SILVER is blowing up anyway, so all they did in hindsight was buy themselves a couple months and their time is almost up.

EMP isn't a concern because the planet doesn't want to get nuked into flatness. If an EMP pops anywhere nukes will fly. Its protocol.

It would take around twelve well placed LARGE EMPs to disrupt around 60-70% of our grid, exposing all 230 nuclear reactors to potential disaster. After seven days, fuel runs out for all cooling pond backup generators and refilling tanks with no power will be near impossible for all locations.

DOD will not sit back waving little white flags while 230 of these reactors go DEFCON. They will level the playing field immediately...and, no country wants to be on the receiving end of a American made nuke barrage.

We are having this problem also in the computer markets. New CPU's and GPU's are almost impossible to get. The only reason I was able to snag a graphics card was that I drove 4 hours away from my home and camped outside of a store with 50 other people waiting to pick up one. When the manager came out he reported that the store only got 2 GPU's in stock. So I and one other person walked away quite happy while 48 other people walked away pissed.

The ever intrepid and intellectual Joe Biden announced a probe into the situation with a report out target date of 6 months.

Look when I was in the military in late 90's, I was working in maintenance and I can tell you from experience that the military wires circuits in such a way that it resists EMP's.

In fact EMP's as people believe it now is a load of shit and people need to stop worrying about it or at least what hollywood portrays as an EMP attack.

Since the government realizes this, they are accumulating items that require a high amount of energy to produce yet their price doesn't reflect the amount of energy. There could be several reasons for this, primarily credit that is issued and then continually rolled by lower interest rates.

They created this mountain of debt once the EROEI started dropping, so that it looked like our standard of living wasn't dropping but it was. Because the economy is based on energy, not the fed's magic monopoly money.

If you don't have energy you don't have any economy, period. You could issue a quadrillion dollars in debt but if you had no energy you would have no economy.

If so, that means they are preparing which is actually a good sign in that at least they recognize there is something seriously wrong with our economy other than academic bureaucrat's running the monetary system.

So the thing you have to understand about emp is it's mechanism of action and what specifically makes something vulnerable and to what degree it makes it vulnerable because an emp is NOT going to affect all things equally!

So EMP's mechanism of destruction is essentially a very high powered rc signal across large but variable swathes of the rf spectrum.

What does that mean?

Well since emp is essentially (that's not exactly what it is but it's close enough to serve as useful for visualizing it) a dangerously powerful radio broadcast the longer contiguous uninsulated/insufficiently insulated conductive pathways an object has the more susceptible it will be to damage from emp because those contiguous conductive pathways essentially become RECEIVING ANTENNAS for the electromagnetic pulse.

This is why shit like power grids and very large aircraft with miles of wire inside are infinitely more susceptible to the effects of a pulse.

The longer contiguous conductive pathways you have the more of the pulses energy can suddenly and violently pump energy into your system because your receiver antenna is big enough to accept energy from a huge swathe of the rf emissions spectrum of a given emp weapon.

So let's look at a small commercial drone like a quad rotor, a smart phone, or etc.

Their very limited size makes them poor receiving antennas thereby preventing them from absorbing the massive slug of rf energy most of which will be at wavelengths far bigger than they are.

It's also dependant on resonant effects and etc to do it's damage.

Thus... Your drones and smartphones are quite likely to make it through deceptively well.

Large aircraft, power grids, power substations and other things otoh are basically tailor made to get the shit wrecked out of them by a pulse.
