That is all changing and they are building restrooms and porta- potties but homeless don't bother. The homeless has gotten worse by a hundred fold. Also,homeless weren't provided for = more homeless.

Yeah a little late now. I worked a construction job in the Mission district 1991. Back then there were homeless but nothing like now, and they were more or less only numerous in areas like the mission. They shut down the public restrooms around that time as a deterrent. Everyday i would find piss stains on my car door. How much profit did silicon valley make since then? They didn't put a fucking dime towards improving conditions in the bay area.

Neo liberalism has achieved the very opposite of nearly everything they espouse. They did manage to make a bunch of sociopaths beyond wealthy. The price tag for that fake wealth was everything, including culture itself.

I lived on the San Francisco Peninsula my entire life, until a few years ago. It was a wonderful place to grow up. Anyone could afford to live there. My Dad was a blue collar guy with a nice house, a bunch of kids who went to Catholic school and a wife who didn't need to work.

Back then, people pretty much got along, neighbors knew each other and folks didn't live and die by their political beliefs. Even there, a lot of people went to church on Sunday. San Francisco was a beautiful city and homelessness, drugs and crime were just a small fraction of the massive problems they are now.

But by the early 2000s, you could detect the beginnings of a big change going on. The foundation of that change was Big Tech. Companies like Google, Facebook and YouTube invaded the Peninsula. They brought in thousands of new residents, mostly young people, freshly indoctrinated by their universities. These new tech geeks had been steeped in "progressivism" and atheism, mirroring the corporate attitudes of the companies they worked for. They were paid extremely well, which began an inflationary spiral that continued up and down the Peninsula and then throughout the Bay Area.

Ten years later, the San Francisco Bay Area was a very different place. It became VERY expensive to live there. The poor-but-not-homeless were forced out, followed by the Working Poor and finally the Middle Class began having to move out. The new tech-related residents began voting for increasingly progressive candidates in their communities. Along with the Bay Area becoming more socialistic-Marxist politically, you could sense a spiritual change as well. I knew I had to leave the church I'd attended for years after the new pastor complained that he had to follow the denomination's directive to not embrace homosexuality or allow gay marriage.

With evil creeping in politically and spiritual darkness spreading, the Covid plandemic was the icing on the Satanic cake -- and the San Francisco Bay Area became an ugly, unfriendly and even scary place to live.

It's sad to realize how this once-wonderful place has turned into a depressing, oppressive hell-hole.

I went out there a few years ago for about a week because of a job.. I could feel it in the air. Just being there seemed to knock me off my good vibes.

I worked for a company that was located downtown, and from what I learned by a little homeless camp right off the freeway.

I was in our office there, and they kept the windows open because they didn't use air conditioning. As we were working, the homeless were outside yelling and fighting with each other. This happened most of the day.

My colleagues apparently were used to it, so they didn't even flinch when things got loud outside. Even during our meetings that were quite serious, it never seemed to bother anyone.

Also, downtown is so disgusting. You could smell piss right when you walked outside, and the overall feeling was a really, really bad vibe.

When I was there I would think about all the people that bought a really expensive condo somewhere downtown. What a terrible life they were living, with their super expensive mortgage.

Needless to say, I was very happy when I left. When I finally arrived back to my area, it was like a huge amount of stress was lifted off my shoulders. I took some deep breaths and felt 'normal' again.

There is something in the air there. It's evil.

There are so many good people there, however. Everyone is not bad. Not even close. That's one thing that people are failing to mention in this post. There's good people who are muzzled and never talk about their true feelings for fear of retaliation. And that fear is REAL. You need to be really careful. For all the cowboys on here who say things like 'be a man' and 'never hide your principles and stand up for your beliefs' have never spent time there.

If you 'stand up for your beliefs' there, you risk your own physical safety. You WILL be targeted. Don't act like you're some big man or hero and you would voice your beliefs. You and your family will be in physical jeopardy if you do. It's not worth it.

Another point, for those saying 'just leave', millions don't have the assests/and or money to just pick up and move. It's not as easy some of you think.

What is really scary to me right now in the SF Bay Area is the traffic and lack of enforcement.
People on the freeway are smoking bowls and watching movies or talking on the phone.
It is just beginning now, but Spring is when the cyclists become very violent with the pedestrians.
It is very scary.
I was almost hit by a speeding cyclist, who was using the crosswalk to run her red light, a couple of weeks ago and have been avoiding going out at all.
I did walk a few blocks a few days ago and the first cyclists I saw made a left at top speed into an occupied crosswalk and missed some poor shocked guy by an inch.
Cyclists have killed people here. They get worse every year. And they get violent. They beat up hikers and one beat up a car driver.
But, it is mostly the pedestrians they constantly endanger. The cops will do nothing.
So you live in a high priced neighborhood, but it is not safe to cross the street.
I expect it to get worse in a few weeks when their season starts up again. It is pure hell and terrifying to get a walk light at the intersection and have an e bike going 15 miles and hour come out of the car lane and into the crosswalk (from ada ramp to ada ramp) to run their red light. Sometimes it is several of them.
