How many volcanoes are there in the world, and how many erupt in a given year? I have lived near Mt. Fuju, on two Hawaiian islands (they are all volcanoes), and Mt. Vesuvius. That is apropo of nothing, just kind of neat.

Just to clarify, that was an honest question about the number of volcanoes, not a confrontation. Like I said before, my background is finance, economics, and law. I always try to stay as many steps ahead of the masses as I can, but this thread topic is way outside of my wheelhouse. I'm trying!
