[ link to www.bbc.co.uk (secure)] Suez canal blockage caused sulphur pollution spike When the container vessel Ever Given got itself wedged in the famous waterway , it forced hundreds of other ships wanting passage to park up. This helped push the concentration of sulphur dioxide (SO2) in the air to five times normal levels on the Mediterranean side of the canal. My words; Uh Ohh, remember the sulphur emissions in Wuhan? wasn't there a volcano over there somewhere doing something? You might be thinking of Etna but I found this. Personally, I think this is a bit of a stretch and would blame Etna before La Soufriere but you decide..
