Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77996433 These dumb deadbeats @ GLP hate PENSIONS. Oh, just wait till they find out how much I get in social security in 9 years. I worked hard for this shit. Yeah, there are some lazy sacks of shit though. 64-72 hour weeks cost a lot in home time. |

User ID: 77839169 United States 02/27/2021 08:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | if your pension is good enough why not wait until you're 70 to collect SS? that's what I'm doing. lots lots more @ 70 than at 62.5 Quoting: Ima Pseudonym If you run the numbers the primary gets an addition 8%/Yr up to age 70. But spousal 50% tops out at 50% of the primary income earner when spouse is 66. If you plan to live to 90, waiting until your 68 to collect both means you get the most every month up to age 90. After that the 16% you lost every month because you took SS at 68 instead of 70 AND you didn't (can't) take the spousal 50%. catches you. Not significant enough since at age 90 you won't be able to do much. |

I haven't worked a day in the last 30 years, but they keep paying me to show up to do my hobby and what I do at home for fun. Anonymous Coward User ID: 79096761 United States 02/27/2021 09:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was on unemployment since July and no hope for going back to work anytime soon. Quoting: kdog82 So, I retired early , and man, am I happy with this check ! I have no insurance, though, but will make due. 56 years old and healthy. You NEED to get some sort of health care coverage! They sell a "short term" health policy that is allowed to EXCLUDE most of the Obama Care mandates ... so it is actually reasonable. Has to be for less that a year, but don't recall what my insurance man told be in that regards. He told me he has been selling a LOT of those policies with so many being laid off, and that they are CHEAPER than regular policies. You NEED to look into that since going bare on health coverage can cause you to LOSE EVERYTHING you have worked for if you suddenly get sick. Happened to a friend when they got diagnosed with cancer during a 60 day "no coverage" period while she was changing jobs. |

Just waiting for this covid crap to die out and the weather warm up. Got bad news for you brother, covid will never be gone, this is the new normal and it will be forever, vaccines will be mandatory and boasters forever until the world's population is culled to about 500 million. Good Luck! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79303194 United States 02/27/2021 10:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I retired 9 years ago at 50 years old. I took a lump sum payment of $1.8 million instead of the monthly pension. The interest on it pays a lot more than the $2,300 monthly pension. I make over $100,000 a year in interest. I'm taking Social Security early. I don't need the extra money. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79724615 United States 02/27/2021 10:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Congratulations the pension is one of the things that used to make America great. Unfortuantely I wouldn't get 100% attached to it though, like an aspiring high school aged musician's parents tell them - "you need a backup plan!!!!!!" Even if the pension doesn't formally go up in smoke the inflation pretty much does that anyway. |

That was probably a very smart move on your part, but what happens when all of the stock market based investments go through the floor (which they will)? And high inflation kicks in (eventually it must)? The scenario you are living right now is tenuous make a backup plan. |
