This issue is such stupidity. Minimum wage was not ever SUPPOSED to be a living wage. No one was supposed to have to support themselves or a family with it.

Minimum wage was the first step on the ladder of work. It was for the most basic, menial, tasks. Tasks that do not require much thought, but exist to prove a person's reliability, honesty, innovativeness and dependability.

Do you know that, if you use the "Inflation Calculator" the minimum wage in the year 1964 was $2.10 per hour, and that in order to have the exact same spending power in today's money, it would have to be 17.72 per hour?

I point this out to show the utter stupidity of people who are pushing the "$15 minimum wage." They are so utterly stupid, so out of touch with actual reality, they don't even realize that what they're asking for isn't actually enough!

That's the most ridiculous statement. You must realize that the majority of that 15 dollars will be consumed in taxes, and those that will be most affected are the service industries like restaurants and fast food services. These establishments already suffer from the lowest profit margins in the business community but will now be responsible to pay 30 dollars an hour for each employee as they must match payroll in payroll tax to the government already. This requirement on top of the healthcare burdens already imposed plus the crippling pandemic lockdowns just means less hours for workers, 12 dollar hamburgers, restaurant dining only for the well to do, and higher prices on everything

Seniors, disabled and unemployed who receive government benefits will all suffer greatly as increasing minimum wages will increase the cost of living and they will never get an increase in payments to match that kind of inflation. Old people will no longer be able to eat at restaurants or afford basic things they used to. And all those min-wage workers will still exist on the brink of poverty and many will lose their jobs as businesses have to cut jobs and force fewer workers to do more work.
