User ID: 80005207 United States 03/03/2021 10:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | SpaceX is planning to perform a test launch of their SN10 starship prototype today, taking it to 10 km before belly flopping and then trying to stick the landing. One engine failed to start during the previous SN9 landing attempt, causing the vehicle to over rotate and fail to slow down before hitting the ground. Elon Musk indicated that the path forward would be to fire up all three engines during the flip and the vehicle would then pick the two best engines to land with. We will see how that goes, potentially as soon as today. The above webcast is set to start at 10:00 a.m. and there should be a SpaceX webcast once we get closer to the actual launch. You can watch the ice form and break off before landing on the manifold. |

Should light three engines for the flip at the start of the landing burn but should go back down to the two engines with the best lever arm once they're confirmed to be working. So it's pretty much the same machine, they're just tweaking with bits of it to improve performance, ie, land without exploding? Bowie and his lawyers ruined it adding all the superfluous instrumentation and forcing the removal of the original version after a year. Can't even find the original on usenet.
