I contemplated it back in March last year, but it seemed like far too much effort, and just decided to roll the dice. Hindsight shows me it would have been a total waste of effort.

I have seen the following meme far too often to not realise a lot of illness is brought about by stress, prolonged FEAR being the biggest stressor

“in Africa doctors attribute some AIDS sickness to *voodoo death* syndrome, the term for illnesses induced psychologically. According to one nurse “We had people who were symptomaticallu AIDS patients

I never did that from day one. The only reason I wear the mask in the store is because I don't want some karen to assault me. Fuck them fucking idiots. It is all a scam. If the sheep only knew how much of a scam.

Well, are you?

Some people would come home from the grocery store and take a shower right away too, and throw those infected clothes in the laundry asap

Anyone still doing this?

People are gross, lets be honest. How many people do you know that won't even wash their hands after using the restroom?

So even before any of this Covid nonsense, I always made sure to wash up well when I get home from work or being out. It's just a good habit to develop.

Re: are are you still disinfecting your groceries, wiping down your shoes, and leaving your mail outside to decontaminate?
March 14 last year I issued a dictum in my house (2 adults, 3 school age children):

NO ONE IN THIS HOUSE IS ALLOWED TO GET SICK

IF YOU GET SICK YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN

It was obviously more of a joke, but it worked like a charm.

We didn't do anything over the top, but we didn't all go riding the city bus to the hospital either or hang out at a crowded bar, either. We did whatever we could to continue like normal ... when things opened up, we went. Kids went to small parties and we'd just watch them a little while after. He and I didn't kiss each other if someone had a stuffy nose. We didn't drag the kids around shopping - why quadruple the chances?

We managed a couple vacations and a couple weekends away. We went to the shore for a week, to Great Wolf lodge, to Maine... We completed a high school field hockey season, which was pretty remarkable, considering the quarantine rules.

All the kids are much more diligent about washing their hands, sharing food and drinks, and about giving people space.

There was no need to decontaminate mail and groceries, only to wash our hands.
 Quoting: SugarSand

I have no choice but to bring my toddler to the store with me

This kid eats bugs, dirt, and food off the floor. Caught him crunching on something at the grocery store, a bag of noodles had broken open... free snacks, lol.

He is healthy as a horse, no vaccines either
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77287674

Yeah ... when mine were little I had to, too, but now the big one is old enough and responsible enough to babysit the younger ones for an hour or two. World-changing milestone right there :)

The kids had it the worst, IMO, because all their scheduled activities just stopped, and their routines were upended. They are all little troopers. It's a crazy world in which to be a kid.

I never did any of that. I did mostly stay at home though, except for less frequent trips to story, doctor and pharmacy. I am disabled and take care of my mother who is mostly bedridden. If I did not get sick, and she did not, with other relatives coming and going... It is mostly a non-issue for most people. I would not be surprised if it has weakened, or we've had it without knowing. I had strange symptoms a few times last year. Feel sick now with lung congestion but it is not much worse than stuff I have had every year or two for decades.

Of course.
We never bought into it.
Never have worn masks.

Funny thing, we just heard a young girl,
daughter of an older lady who we go to
church with, just tested positive.

For a solid year she has kept her mother
in solitary confinement. Treated her like
she was the bubble boy. This poor woman is
over seventy like we are, and she's been
treated like she's in Supermax.

The excuse was that the daughter works at a
resort here and deals with people from all
over the country every day, and she didn't
want to "CATCH IT", and bring it home to her
elderly mother, and kill her.

Well now she "CAUGHT IT".

She used to get all wrapped up in "clean room"
gear, to bring her groceries and clean her house,
and now???

We guess she'll leave the groceries on the porch
like she's feeding a leper, except the roles
are reversed. SHE'S THE LEPER, AND HER MOM'S
HEALTHY AS A HORSE!
This stupid girl has ZERO SYMPTOMS, BTW!

We know a dozen people or more now who have tested
positive over the past year. Most older like we
are. Worst case was like the flu. All alive and
kicking.

We have damn near destroyed the Western economies
over a disease that is less lethal than the
normal annual flu.

But the stupid SHEEP are still waling around
like zombies with their masks on.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2088020

I think that was the point. To destroy the economy or at least blame the economic problems on covid because it was going down anyway. And also to roll out vaccines which are a big problem. There is much more going on and covid is blamed. Population control is also an agenda.

I never did, myself.

For those who admit to doing it, do you feel foolish now? I am not judging, just curious.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77287674

I haven't been inside a building other than my own houses and and workshops, since March 12, 2020.

I use curbside pickup for groceries. I wear a mask while picking them up, and on the short drive to one of my homes, where I decontaminate them, in the garage.

I decontaminate them using stabilized hydrogen peroxide.

While doing that, I wear gloves, glasses, mask, and face shield.

I wear gloves when I get gasoline or diesel.

I wear a mask when I go pick up chicken feed, dog feed, etc., at my local farm supply. I call the order in, and pick it up outside.

Since the corona virus appeared, I have lived at my farm, growing a garden, taking care of my chickens and gathering eggs, hunting, fishing in my pond, exploring my woodlots, building sheds for my tractors, servicing my trucks, etc.

I will be caught up with everything in about a week, and then I am going to do some fun projects, like making some knives, longbows, arrows, percussion rifle and pistol, etc.

Can't complain. I am enjoying this!

I am not scared of the coronavirus. Just smart.

I know a couple of nurses in a major hospital.

My sister works at another one, in my area.

You fools can believe what you want.

I KNOW!!!!!

They sure had us convinced we were all going to die. The videos out of China were pretty scary, though now we know those were fakes.

I live in Ohio and last February when everything started ramping up, people were talking about it but lockdowns hadn't started yet. We were at walmart super center and my 4 year old straight up LICKED the glass door to the freezer case.

At that moment I had a choice, freak out or give it up to God. I gave it to God
hf
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77287674

There are a lot of people packed into China. What we saw out of there was likely very real, but also not a full story. The numbers sick were a very small percent.

I think the virus is real, but for most, not bothersome.

I think they found some descendants genetics and are trying to genocide them (specifically anyone with a particular genetic sequence from being a descendant of a certain person.)

This is such a low percent of the population, it would appear to many that nothing is going on at all. It would, however, impact higher percents of people in certain regions...and possibly hit in waves as full coverage is difficult when humans are isolating.

So yes, real, can produce symptoms, not likely to kill unless you won the genetic lottery or were already very weak.

This is all my opinion and based on observations. Due to this, I don’t think excess washing etc helps. Certain cleanliness is prudent, but antibacterial soap should never be used. Horrible for the environment and that chemical when it combines with water is carcinogenic and could result in skin cancer. I expect in some decades we’ll notice a major uptick in skin cancer on the hands and oral cancer from certain toothpastes with triclosan in it. They will blame oral cancer on hpv. Neat, huh. Sorry for the OT
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5386151

We live in the country with a well and septic system, anything antibacterial or with bleach is a no-no

So if I can't kill it with hot soapy water I am screwed... though vinegar is also good for killing germs too
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77287674

I use some bleach in my washing machine and septic has always been fine. Flush some yeast down the septic once a month.

Nope. Never did. I sanitize my hands often while at work. My 17 year old, who wants to be a nurse someday, works in a nursing home. When he gets home his scrubs go straight to the wash but I would do that anyway.

Everyone in my house was sick in January of 2020, I had it the worst though, thought I was going to die it was so bad. Survived... I am certain it was covid but the weren't testing for it yet in Ohio. Had all the symptoms.

Oddly enough nobody in my household was sick with anything this winter, not so much as a cold. Very strange
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77287674

This is exactly my situation. My elderly Mom had it in January 2020; I think I had it February 2020 before wide testing. Nearly killed my Mom; my case wasn’t as bad.

I catch like everything due to a bad immune system. So, for me, the last year is the first year in memory that I haven’t been sick as an adult! It’s been awesome.

All I do is the mask and wash hands thing. Never did a thing about packages, mail, etc. I sat with my mother during the worse part of our local outbreak in December 2020 in a hospital for 1 1/2 hours waiting for an emergency test for her; people coughing all around me, masks under their noses etc and I didn’t catch COVID; if I were going to have it again, that would have been the time I would have caught it, I think.

Lest we forget, humor is inexplicably critically essential, especially during somber, deflating-to-one's-soul times, being hit with baaaaaad news again and again, non-stop. The antidote to all of this is laughter, which releases endomorphins and dopamine, both of which boost your immune system, and thus puts stress on the run, so to speak. Interestingly enough, when we are laughing, it is nearly impossible to be deflated simultaneously.

i call these good li'l soldiers "happy cells".

This comes to mind:

The kids had it the worst, IMO, because all their scheduled activities just stopped, and their routines were upended. They are all little troopers. It's a crazy world in which to be a kid.

If we look at the past it has always been crazy. Maybe a little more here and there but we always live with uncertainty. The best thing we can do is learn to adapt. And children are good with that.

i agree. And one of the ways that children adapt, is to "play". Unfortunately we forget how to play, be spontaneous, and thus be creative, as adults.

Playing and laughter go hand in hand. Both are "healers".
