Drs don't wear them as a rule, surgeons do. During surgery bacterial infection is a huge risk and so surgeons and nurses all wear masks to stop bacteria from them entering an open wound. Surgical masks are excellent at stopping bacteria because compared to a virus bacteria are massive.

To so many people "the mask" is a proclamation if you are on the left or right just like a sign in your yard during the election cycle.

The Surgery Mask does not protect the Nurse or Doctor from whats inside your open chest during surgery, its meant to protect the patient from contracting a virus or bacteria the Nurse or Doctor exhales while hovering over your gaping hole.

Same thing in public.

Pretty simple idea that works....not 100% though but better than 0%.

Coronavirus is spread very easily by air.

Ebola, they told us was only transmitted by contact.
If you followed the Ebola story a few years ago, the medical staff wore various combinations of surgical masks, Taped off N-95 masks, goggles, gowns, and latex gloves. The disease still claimed a horrific percentage of the front line workers.

In the real world, with a real deadly disease. A disease that was around 35% fatal within days, the masks did NOTHING. Against a virus that was supposed to be FAR EASIER TO CONTROL!. A disease that they say could be controlled simply by practicing good hygiene.

Everything is not black and white however. So when I say the masks did nothing, I mean they were still running out of doctors and nurses that were still alive. Maybe they lived another couple days because of the masks, but the protection from the masks they were using was wholly insufficient.

Being an engineer (and one of the best there is), I sent an email to the CDC to tell them that the masks were not adequate protection for a virus and explained the reasoning, and that a 3M half mask appliance with valves and fitted with P-100s would be the minimum protection I would recommend, and that really, the 3M full face mask respirator would be better because the goggles they were using still had small air vents around the perimeter, to prevent fogging. (of course there are other makers of similar respirators like Norton, MSA etc., but 3M is kind of the gold standard for me). And also informed them that a PAPR device is really what is needed, because it keeps the wearer cooler and less fatigued, as the power for filtration is provided by the PAPR unit (powered air-purifying respirator), and any facemask leaks will leak outward, because of the positive mask pressure.

Welders wear PAPRs to protect against welding fumes.
I can't fathom the logic that says give an infection disease doctor a 30 cent paper mask to wear for protection, and a $1000 PAPR to a welder. They all need the right protection.
Just in dollar terms, what does it cost to train a doctor to the level that these front line doctors need to be useful? A million dollars or more easily! And nobody wants to spend a thousand dollars to keep them alive? Then they fall ill and rack up a hundred thousand dollar medical bill on top of that?

As I said before, Corona virii spread though the air very efficiently, and primitive masking simply is not statistically effective. It might stop a large glob of spittle from flying through the air, but the main spread is via particles of mucus with the virus that are too small to be effectively filtered with a simple surgical mask or any mask short of P-100s fitted to a silicone rubber facemask with a positive cheek and nose seal.

Tests show around 8% of the inhaled air completely bypasses an N-95 disposable mask along the poor fitment to the face. So no matter what the mask rating is, with that kind of leakage, the mask is useless against a virus.


And those that laugh at OAN as a news source. If you haven't yet realized that we have lost the free press in this country, then you are beyond all redemption. The press universally reads whatever "news" the new communist government gives them to read.

OAN and NTD news seem to be the only news agencies that are bucking this trend.

Time to end the mask crap. If people want to wear them then fine....but being compelled to wear them is BS.

It's never been about the quality of any mask, their efficiency, or what they "might" do to protect anyone.

I work in auto parts sales. Corporate is following the recommendations of the CDC. The CDC may say that masks are ineffective but recommended. The recommended part is the only thing that corporate bigwigs hear. I'm sure the case is similar with many corporations.

Fuck the science, let's just make decisions based on baseless/contradictory recommendations

There only admitting it now that vaccines are available, so that the people who refuse it can't cop out by saying I'll just wear my mask.

They really want to discriminate those who don't wanna take it and pressure them into taking it. The real test will be when the vaccinated are locked down again and told that even though they are vaccinated, that they aren't allowed out until the anti vax crowd is. Which will enrage them to the point they will be pleading for anti vaxxers to be detained into camps until they take the shot.

So now the maskies are the sciences deniers?

Right. I have neighbor who I told practically no one was wearing masks in stores in the part of SC I was visiting and how normal and freeing it was to experience that. She said well, I think it does catch large droplets from a sneeze. I just said nothing at first.

Of course a barrier, as in a sneeze into your hand or sleeve would also act as a barrier, but if you are sneezing up a storm maybe you should minimize your venturing out into public (although, as I understand it, a sneeze isn't even one of the main signs). I did say asymptomatic doesn't speed it.

Sadly 75% of my friends (mostly now former friends) are all for the vaxx and adamant about masks. I never knew how little these people used their brains.

Masks do NOTHING to slow the spread of a virus, in fact they make people more likely to get sick - for reasons a 5 year old child would find self evident. Show any proof, of any kind, that the spread of any virus has ever been impacted by use of masks. It should be quite easy, considering you have extreme examples of mandatory/compliance or not.

A doctor or researcher would have been laughed out of tenure for suggesting that masks woulf change the spread of a virus before last year. It is a joke, a hoax, and you can take your 'viral load' and shove it up your ass. Five different studies with a combined budget of $100 Million in 2018-2019 across the planet all proved that masks do NOTHING. If you are wearing a mask that can stop a virus, you are able to wear that mask for around 10 minutes before you start getting dizzy from hypoxia. Fuck off with this nonsense that cloth masks are anything but a weapon of control.
