It's very uncomfortable, but doable.

The bus was stopped in some backwater town, where police got on and searched for drugs, contraband, or whatever.

This was in the eighties, long before TSA.
230 here, but 0 there.

Re: ever taken a greyhound bus across country{USA}? looking for advice
I will never take a bus again. 36 hours from Detroit to Tampa. Lots of stops and changing buses. Just when you fall asleep, you have to wake up and change buses. I got stuck next to an immigrant worker coming from working in the fields. Literally smelled like he crapped in the field and just left the shit stuck in his crack. One hour of that awful smell. I had a fear of flying before that bus trip. That trip literally cured my fear of flying. I fly everywhere now.

Yeah...I used to go to Filene's bargain basement once a month with my mom. Used to try on clothes right on the spot in the store as there were no changing rooms lol. Yeah..I've been to SPags in Worcester lol

My grandfather was a dental technician in Fitchburg. They called him the "Einstein of Fitchburg" 'cause he invented a machine that made dentures. Yeah the paper mills made the water pretty disgusting

I grew up in S.Burlington VT and would go to MA all the time. New England ain't what it used to be so I've heard

the bus trip will probably suck major balls but oh well if anyone messes with me i will drag them off CCTV view and break their face with gloves on and get back on the bus. fuck any enemies. the bus is doing me a favor.

OP: you will have plenty of chances to toke up at reststops. Like classic rock concerts, it is a thing where people look the other way and no one is surprised should you choose to not be completely out of sight when lighting up. It might sound sketchy, but you'll see what i mean.

Do not get too excited about sitting solo. Buses and trains stopped doing that sort of thing months ago.

I did San Francisco to nyc and must say it was much more of a romantic idea than tubular reality. I suggest both nose plugs and earplugs. Prepare for the proverbial crying infant and room temp iq tacos shouting in Spanish on their welfare phones. Prepare for everyone getting out at the gas stations next to McDonalds and everyone brining their food on board. That shit was the most disgusting part of it all for me. But then i actively despise fast food and i think was perpetually the only one who did not ever partake.

I got a ton of reading done. The scenery is nice but we are also talking like a hundred hours of it here. Not all can concentrate on a filthy bus, but if you can bring a good two books you have been meaning to read or reread for ages.

Best part was getting across country, and in my care into a good bar for a beer with a friend. After one all the exhaustion of the journey knocked me out and i went off to sleep for twelve hours... But hot damn that was a memorable beer.

Re: ever taken a greyhound bus across country{USA}? looking for advice
hi everyone. i am potentially going to be taking a bus from northern california to boston, some time from april to early june. one plus side to the pandemic is, i wont have to sit next to some sweaty fat person, or a drunk crazy person... because of social distance.

im pissed i wont be abe to smoke weed for 4 days so i plan to pack a bunch of THC gummies in my carry on, and probably some valerian capsules to help with sleep.

ive taken a greyhound across a ew states before but it was nothing compared to what this trip will be. we're talking 4 days, possibly 5 if the layovers/ transfers take longer(which they will).

if anyone has done this; gone across country in a bus.... what should i expect? any advice is highly appreciated! im kinda worried about it but i have a lot of good things waiting back in boston that i need to get to.
 Quoting: Plato II

Be careful not to befriend anyone on your ride. I had a girl who I thought was really nice strike up a conversation with me, then sit next to me, only to steal my ticket out of my bag.
