How would world powers win a WAR in modern times? What would the result be?

How would world powers win a WAR in modern times? What would the result be?
Usually a war won means you get your country some extra territory


If US vs China took off, how would a victory be declared?

Would only military targets be targeted? What about in US where China has sleepers all over the country? Would those sleepers be attacked by US?

literally dozens of questions on how this was would be different than all previous ones
