Re: Tracking ISS with my telescope live!

Was you able to confirm if Apophis had a debris field??

If not

When will be the approximate distance you can confirm with your equipment and two eyes?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78449977

I have a ton of Apophis data that I still need to process, just haven't had time this week. Might be able to get around to some of it this weekend, but I'm also prepping to film a launch this weekend and test my remote tracking code.

And exactly what is the purpose of ISS? What have they accomplished or discovered in all those years? Basically a waste of time and resources.

This just a short list of the research on the ISS in a micro-gravity environment.

I saw that sighting for tomorrow. For me it's 7:04 am, just a little north of Tampa. Max height of 74 degrees for 7 minutes. Should be good. Think I'll set my binoculars outside over night to minimize the dew problem.

Setting my alarm.
 Quoting: Remedial_Rebel

It's always fun to watch the ISS. 7 minutes? I never have more than 2-3 minutes viewing time when it's overhead here in the northeast.

It's amazing!

Follow it someday. It's fun. Have you ever seen what looks like a star moving/flying across the sky? No....but if you do, it's not a star, it's the ISS. Don't get it mixed up with an airplane. The airplane blinks. The ISS does not. It moves west to east.

I used to follow where it would be in my area and when. My entire family have seen it. I once called my neighbors and their 10 year old boy into my yard when it was about to appear. The kid was amazed! Something kids (and adults) will never forget.

Tomorrow morning 6 am eastern, 10:00 UT, I will be tracking and webcasting a 67 degree high pass of ISS. Weather is forecast to be clear so it should be good. We'll be able to see the SpaceX Crew-1 Dragon docked to the front of the station.

I never saw it during daylight. Only that bright light flying across a clear sky at night. I'm still amazed by it all because there are people inside. lol You couldn't pay me a million dollars to get in one of those rockets to fly around the world everyday in the ISS.

These have become my favorite threads on the site.

If you guys haven't tuned in Astro does a pretty legit job showing the technicals of everything and walking you through the "what" and "why".

They are very chill.

My suggestion is tune in!

Well do keep in mind that it's moving slower when it's close to the horizon so you only get a couple of minutes of the best viewing when it's high up in the sky.

That second pic is great!

I believe that is the chassis for a "Mechanical Mule".

As a child I built a model with working steering and springs. It had a horizontal steering wheel on a vertical shaft.
