I Checked Amazon and a New One Sells for $750. Yeesh. Maybe I should try and sell it. The only good thing about it is that it sucks. It's a Dyson and it has powerful suction. Otherwise the design is not great for an apartment. I repair vacuums so I'm always getting them from people, fixing them and giving them away. My neighbor gave me his cordless Hoover. I left it on the back porch exposed to the elements for the entire winter. I brought it inside and it started right up. Cordless vacuums are the way to go for apartments. I Checked Amazon and a New One Sells for $750. My stepmom bought the Dyson years ago and clogged it up with dog hair. You can't open the middle section to clean it out. She gave it to me and I spent days fishing out the hair with a hook on a stick. I finally got it in perfect working order. It weighs a ton, is bulky and and I'm always tripping over the cord. I'm not a fan of the wand attachment either. Right after she gave me her expensive vacuum, she went out and bought another Dyson. My stepmom's not the most frugal person...

I Checked Amazon and a New One Sells for $750. Vacuum repair is easy. I learned it when I worked in a hotel. Most of the time it's just a matter of cleaning them out. I repaired a fan blade once on an Oreck. That was an easy repair too. I spent $12 for the part and sold the vacuum for $40. If you need extra money, you could look into it. You can drive around and get free vacuums being thrown out that just need some maintenance. People will often be glad to give you their old vacuums too or have you repair them.

Being able to make simple repairs can lead to some good money if you can get your hands on a lot of free stuff being thrown out or given away. I live in a really small town and I'm always getting stuff.

The favorite is the old standby upright Kirby.,.. works great and keeps on sucking. We use the attachments occasionally but just for running over the carpet its fine. But even after the Kirby the Rainbow will pick up even more,,,one boring afternoon we tried it and was pretty impressed.

It had a coolant leak so I called a HVAC place and they said they wouldn't fix it. They only worked on bigger units for bigger bucks. He said I should just throw it out and get a new one. I kept the remote and a few parts that I'll sell on Ebay. At least I'll get something out of it.

I'd buy those Dyson vacuums and clean them up like new and resell them. My boyfriend and I are frustrated with taking our bagless Hoover apart and cleaning it out, it’s a point of contention for us because there are parts we just aren’t equipped to mess around with. All of the stress could be alleviated if we could just find a vacuum cleaning & repair person locally. Neither of us are interested in buying anything new with the economy being the way it is.
