The Airforce Cyber Command employs an army of trolls to keep discussions "on message" as they refer to it. It's entirely feasible that there are a host of other agencies engaged in the same sort of activity.
That doesn't even take into account the numerous "grassroots" political action groups that have been caught doing the same thing repeatedly.
Twitter is a cesspool chock full of that.

The trick now is to just yank the hosting of the smaller forums. I think we'll be back to snail mail newsletters again in the near future.
