Shit no. I was in 7th ID during the Rodney King verdict. When, during the LA riots I got a phone call at 5 AM on a Saturday, I didn't have to question why. Before the end of the day, 2nd Brigade was in Los Angeles as part of Joint Task Force-LA. I saw shit there that was almost as bad as Afghanistan.

I met my husband in 92. Good times! However, I started high school in 1980 and graduated from college in 1988. We knew how to have fun in the 80's.

That was the year I was born.

If I could go back there as exactly who I am, I would!

The music, the gatherings, blockbuster, malls, amusement parks in their prime, pre 911 by 9 years... Sooo many reasons.

I could help convince everyone to not vote for Clinton and to push Trump to run!

Re: If you could go back to 1992, would you?
Without a doubt: I would tell myself that the "wonderful girl you have just met is a cheating, money grubbing, daddy-issued philanderer where like = love = fuck. Do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE marry her. The daughters you will have are beautiful, but is the heartache worth it?"

A couple years back, one of those beautiful daughters asked me, "Dad, would you have married mom if you knew then what you know now about her?"

I looked at her with love in my eyes, smiled and said, "OH HELL NO!"

I could see she was rattled. I told her, "You would have been born into another family with hopefully a little stability," and let her know how much I cared for her as a person and as my daughter as well.

I WAS able to pass this tidbit of knowledge on to her current BF after she scuttled our 23 year relationship.

He called me one night when I was hosting a Cinco de Mayo party with friends, to complain that she was cheating on him. I told him, "What makes you think you're special? She cheated on me with you, and she'll cheat on you. You can stay with her, but you're going to have to put up with her shit. And do NOT marry her without an ironclad prenup in place."

That was in 2016. They are still together, but he's heeded my advice and is still unwed and maintains separate finances from her.

As for myself, I fell in love with one of my neighbors a couple blocks away whose husband couldn't keep his pants on either. We rented a UHAUL for a day, put a mile or two on it as we moved her household into mine, and were married almost three years ago on March 25th.

How nice to be loved for who I am rather that what I can provide.

 Quoting: eyeDR3

We did try to push Trump to run, for many MANY years. I wrote him a letter in 1984 saying how much my family and I admired him, admired what he said in his books and interviews about "America First," about how imports were killing America and about how we deeply wished he would become the leader of our nation, a leader we sorely needed then and now! ....

I also mentioned a 1911 "skyscraper" in Phila with classical Victorian features that was to be torn down and pleaded with him to help find a buyer to salvage it and restore it. Mysteriously, that is exactly what happened to it just before it met the wrecking ball, like a last minute reprieve and to this day, I have always felt my letter to him had something to do with it.

Because Trump DIDN'T run, all those years that many of us wanted him to, we backed Ross Perot for president in '92. He was, in many ways like Donald Trump, he had the exact same vision. But, because every election is rigged, 65% - 75% of Americans weren't heard then, either. The N.W.O. put in their stooge.

Something went wrong in the 2016 election. Hitlery was all set to win and then BAM! There was a monkey-wrench in the machinery. Trump was NOT supposed to win. Some say it was "the aliens" who intervened, "The Galactic Federation," et als. They had promised TO intervene and were very gung-ho pro Trump! I wrote about it on here prior to the 2016 election!

We all prayed really hard and thought God had something to do with it (example: "Mark Taylor" and his visions of Trump as president, via God.)

I don' know who it was, perhaps it was a combination of BOTH. All I know is whoever did intervene to get Trump elected, didn't do so again in 2020 and we are all of us confused, dizzy and depressed as a result.

I would love to go back to 1992 and be together with the love of my life again.

You just inspired me.

One way to satiate nostalgia could be to have themed parties.

No smartphones allowed!

Would anyone comply?

hmm

But to even do this for yourself and channel the good that you felt then rather than the despair of reminiscence... Great idea!
 Quoting:

Oh Yes, they make the best party's, and the kids really get into it too.

In the country, we would have a breakfast party. started at 6am, family's would all come, pastries all home made from each place and brought to the occasion. the BBQ would be cooking the eggs and bacon, and small sausages. the coffee and tea was hot, all the good breakfast stuff. all over by 7:30 am and off to school and work for the many friends who came.

Hardest part was always getting out of bed, easy part was eating and chatting amoungst friends. Very popular is a good breakfast party for the day.

Make the best party's what??? Toast?

Ohhhhhh did you mean "parties"? My bad! I'm American and we spell parties, PARTIES, not Party's.

The best year to go back to would be 1980.

No internet.

No mobile phones.

Cars that rocked.

Women that rocked too.

Best buds EVER.

Re: If you could go back to 1992, would you?
well lets see. I guess I would for the following reasons:

1. April 6, 1992, Windows 3.1 was released and it was far better than the fricking Commie 64 that I had been using.

2. I was getting raises at work that actually meant something as homes finally became easier to buy as the fricking interest rates finally dipped below 8%

3. My 1992 Toyota Celica GT was a badass car. Last car with a 4 barrel carb.

4. My son was old enough to be left alone with no babysitter

5. Went to Summerfest and so so many good bands playing [link to www.setlist.fm (secure)]

6. Lastly, gas prices were 64 cents a gallon. Life was so good

I remember filling our 1964 Plymouth Barracuda for 77cents a gallon IN FRIGGIN 1974! What planet are u living on?

I remember when gas would hit 99cents a gallon in 1990, it was like a national holiday. In fact, the average price of gasoline for 1990 was 1.30 per gallon. Two years later, according to this graph (I'll link below), in 1992, it dropped to $1.09 per gallon, where it stayed until 1995.

I smoke the good stuff. I paid that low price at gas stations that accepted cash only and that was most likely the current wholesale price of gas without taxes. They had infamous gas wars for a short time in 92 along the interstates in the mid south region of the country. I could easily fill up in Mo on Interstate 55/57 for 65-75 cents a gallon in Sikeston/Charleston (Boomland) just to get you to stop and buy fireworks. They had very little gas tax too.
