Is it possible that the world will go into a 3rd world war for even a more foolish reason than WW 1? Not even considering that the losses in this new war will dwarf the losses of the first?

Our world troubles seem to stem from the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913.

The whole Ukraine thing will never spark off WW3 as stakes are too low compared to the losses.
Furthermore: There are more efficient ways of warfare than launching nukes. Nukes make no sense as if one launches a nuke, the whole planet goes kaboum and those who will be left over most probably will whish they died in the explosions after 2 or 3 years.
If any war sparks off it will be a freaking cyber war crippling economies. This is the most effective way to force a regime change and gain influence. Warfare to conquer territories is something from another era as any (political/military) leader knows that for successfully conquering a region the condition sine qua non is that the people have to accept you as a conqueror at a given point in time. To speed up that process, the best way is to make the people unhappy with the current policies/ways of working of a region/country, and then extend your political influence in that country through ideologies in political parties who are "friendly" to the ideologies of your country. Once you got politics in your pocket, you can basically gently steer the country/region into a new direction which is more "friendly" to your own.

And guess what is happening now both in the US and Europe...
Give it one more decade and Putin or Xi won't need to have an army anymore: people will just accept them (Take China out of the picture and you loose productions capacity worldwide, take Russia out of the picture, and you loose part of energy supply in EUrope. The last situation is greatly enhanced by the green/socialist parties)

All world leaders know a world war is costly both in resources and human life and you cannot get around the fact that you will need a LOT of time to recover from it, especially if nukes start to go off. So it is a loss situation for everyone. Political/economical/cyber warfare however... that's another thing and much more plausible
