Irrespective of this. I do have to say, I think US/NATO are deliberately pouring petrol on the flames here.

Risking escalating a small regional conflict in East Ukraine, in to a full on global nuclear conflagration is beyond crazy.

I can actually see it from the Russian perspective.

They are illegally military occupying East Ukraine. There is no disputing that.

But you could argue, had the legitimate Yanukavich government not been over thrown in an armed coup by the West they wouldn't be there now.

Also they know US/NATO is angling for Ukraine joining NATO.

Then East Ukraine will be deployed full of intermediate ranged Nukes aimed at Russia.

The best way to resolve this dispute is with unambiguous assurances written in blood.

That Ethnic Russians in East Ukraine will be left alone. That Ukraine never joins NATO. And that Missiles are never deployed in East Ukraine.

It should ne more than obvious to everyone by now. This is Russia red line.

I think maybe US/NATO should think about respecting this.

I have heard Putin clearly say on a number of occasions, Given the disparity between Russia, and US/NATO, in conventional battlefield weaponry. Where by US/NATO has an overwhelming advantage. That Russia WILL USE NUKES in an armed conflict, It has no choice but to level the uneven playing field. They are a fundamental part of Russia defense. All of their military planning to repel any US/NATO attack involves Nukes. Nuke ICBMS, Nuke Artillery ,Nuke intermediate Missiles etc.

They know they are going to have to use Nukes, and they know US/NATO will reciprocate in real time.
