Australian floods forces Spiders to seek the high ground.

An Aussie friend told me when the Kangaroos are in breeding season or whatever, you have to be careful because they will beat you up in your own yard!lol! Honestly, Australia sounds like the scariest place ever and then you have Crocodiles in those strip pit pond places.... omgottt!

Or how about the attitude, it's someone's home, let it float away! lol omg it's so funny!!!

On the contrary... I'm the funniest c*** you'll ever meet!... just takes a while for people to understand the depths of my comedy.

I don't see how anyone couldn't want to meet a land full of spiders with skip in their getalong, or how playing squirmy games with eels isn't everyday fun!....

Should have built it right to begin with... there's a reason really old homes along the eastern coast of Aus were all elevated in some manner.

We've lost that due to the rarity of floods and the "cost effectiveness" of building in general (everyone wants a cheap quick house).

Floods are also exasperated by an increasingly concreted urban landscape (... community developments anyone?)...

Serves them right.

Also, one of the few chances they'll get to own a house boat, however brief.

Yeah-Nah, Huntsman is not even close to funnel web's level of nope. Huntsmans are your friend. The white tail spiders that supposedly if bitten by you can get necrosis of the flesh, red backs, centipedes (hate these fuckers the most) - All are dindins to a Huntsman. Any huntsman I find at home I roll out the red carpet for the little bugger and let it stay as long as it likes.

I'm the type of person that is the reason knowledge of the elusive Drop Bear even still exists.

Some of my Irish friends are now going around doing the disservice of telling other of my Irish friends that Drop Bear's are an urban legend.

They'll learn one day.

Agreed, I get a couple Huntsmen a day usually. The big ones are real fast!

horrible little angry cunts they are. centipedes are caterpillars mutated roided up half lebo-cousins. but its good because i see and i know exactly what it is & don't try shake hands with it.

Unlike when nature's deadlyness is beautifully ambiguous. When danger is not so clear or it's hard to resist... I brought up a blue ringed octopus on the fishing line way back and from being stoned was mesmerized by its beauty. Held it up by the line a foot from my face and stared at the dimming/brightening glowing blue rings. It was so cool, thankfully my risk assessment instincts of 'look and don't touch' worked for me that day, not so much when I met the to-be first wife though.

You're only peeking behind the curtain.. walk on in and behold the vastness of 'omgottts'!' and the 'watch out for that fucken thing damo!' that lurk all over this continent.

Well ten minutes ago it didn't work. I washed my hands and arms in the tub, then a BIG spider jumped out of no where. yuck, he got wet on his own. Suicidal from the lockdown. On another note I did hear Mike Adams say ppl are committing suicide after the jab too.

Australia is the only place on earth that has the most land, sea and air creatures that want to kill you.
And to top it off, Mother Nature wants her piece of the pie more often than not.

I don't mind them, am not afraid of them except the poisonous ones. I will go absolutely girly if I see a big recluse though. gives me the shivers but so do hundreds of thousands of harmless spiders looking for high ground. I don't want to be that high ground but all the same I would try to help some of them.... After living in Texas for 20 yrs. I am fricken done with ants... fire ants, stinging ants, tiny ants that bite. the place is infested with ants and they all want to hurt you.

I think there's something about the closer your geographic region gets to being more dry than not and to arid environment grading towards more desert then there's an increase in types and size of bitey things. Outback SA has what we call inch-ants for obvious reasons. And some of the texans who were also working there seemed all too familiar lol

I’ve never seen Shelob or Aragog. Having read the books I knew not to look during those scenes. There are two things that I am afraid of. One is drowning and the other is large on screen spiders. I suppose we could throw in all large creepy crawlers to that. The giant bugs scene in King Kong scared the hell outta me. Now I will leave this thread for good since one of you will post one or both of those spiders.

No but Shelob was only a nasty thing compared to her mother Ungoliant. She was big enough for a Valar to ride! Creepy!
