Speaking of trenches, y’all know Florence Nightingale started her community service in the Crimea war 1853. She set the local prostitutes to task by making soap and washing down the camp. That made enemies. Those boys were not going to take a bath, let alone use soap. She cut the death rate down to 10% and was sent back to England with serious reprimands. Wikipedia
