So this CME, is/was it supposed to be a head on hit,
or kind of a sideswipe?
If one were outside during a good strong CME would
you notice, sense, feel anything different?

Yeah, probably a good idea to stay inside when this passes by. I could try and explain the physical damage done, too much really, just better if you stay inside.
